K-Net News August 2015

Welcome to the first edition of K-Net News, brought to you by the team behind the Kentisbeare Parish Website. Please feel free to email us your suggestions, events, news, announcements and photos to maria@kentisbeare.net. We'd love to hear from you!

Last month in the Parish

Dog Show and Fete

Last month we enjoyed the annual Kentisbeare Dog Show and Fete, held in the verdant grounds of Kentisbeare House. The locals were out in force, whether manning the stalls, showing their produce, taking part in welly wanging or just soaking up the atmosphere. Canine friends were centre stage at Fun Dog Show and there was plenty to entertain the kids.

One visitor commented on the best bits for her: "The ferret racing is always really good fun, but I really rejoyed serving on one of the stalls and meeting the various people who came to play on it. The children did brilliantly and were really competitive with one another in a good fun way".

Celebrating our Beautiful Parish

In this section, we celebrate something wonderful about our Parish. In this edition, we're thrilled to let you know that this brilliant photo, of kids on a gate in Kentisbeare, was one of the winners of a Devon County photography competition. The theme was "What does the Parish Paths Partnership mean to you?"

The judges said that Melanie Shore-Quinain's photo "displayed the sheer delight of youngsters playing on a gate and couldn't help but put a smile on every face". Melanie's photo wins a small cash award for the Parish. You can find out more about the Parish Paths Partnership here.

And finally...

Did you know about the online Parish Business Directory? If you prefer to use local tradespeople, then make the Directory your first port of call. There you'll discover a wide range of local businesses - anything from a cake maker to a tree surgeon, plumber or even a local B&B.

The page is easy to find at

If you want to get in touch with your Parish Council, you can either contact a specific councillor - they each have a special remit, or use the Contact Us service on our website for a more general enquiry.
