In the beginning of the week we will start the week with a daily Examen reflection and prayer. This can be done at the end of the day.

"The Daily Examen is a technique of prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to detect God’s presence and discern his direction for us. The Examen is an ancient practice in the Church that can help us see God’s hand at work in our whole experience." source

Welcoming the stranger.

“this mystery has now been revealed… by the Spirit…the Gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.” Ephesians 3:5-6

1)    What strange dreams have warned me to return home by another road? Have I listened? Matthew 2:12

2)    What tribute, service, gifts do I think Jesus deserves from me today? What does Jesus deserve? Matthew 2:11

3)    Being fellow heirs - who do I have trouble accepting as a fellow heir? It could be a co-worker, church attender, family member, etc- someone that today I am not able to see as a ‘fellow heir.’

Jesus,  show me your own strangeness, and your love in accepting me- help me ‘pay it forward’ to another.

4)    What part of God is still mysterious to me?

God, thank you for your mysteries.  Or- God, you do not seem mysterious. May my eyes be opened to the ways in which you are unfathomable.

"End the Daily Examen with a conversation with Jesus. Ask forgiveness for your sins. Ask for his protection and help. Ask for his wisdom about the questions you have and the problems you face. Do all this in the spirit of gratitude. Your life is a gift, and it is adorned with gifts from God. End the Daily Examen with the Our Father." source
