Blue River Soccer Association Newsletter

Message from the President
Parents,

Blue River Soccer Association is going into its 25th year of existence and I wanted to remind everyone of our mission statement:
We provide our players an environment in which they can achieve their best, reach personal goals,
         and pursue excellence.

Since taking over as President, I have had the honor of watching our players do just that with the support of our parents and coaches.  My goal every day as President is to make sure we fulfill those promises and live up to our mission statement.  No matter which team you are part of I am committed to the growth of our club and achieving success for all teams.

Perception is everything.  I want to assure parents and players that our job as President, Director of Coaching, Coach or Assistant Coach or any other member of BRSA is to support you.  We will do what we can to make sure you achieve your goals, excel in your dreams and obtain the skills to pursue excellence.

My door is always open to any parent or player who has concerns or needs to discuss any problems or positive advances you see.  Opinions and suggestions are taken seriously and reviewed at each board meeting.

I am looking forward to another great Spring Season.  Good luck to all of our players and let's have a great season.

Heather Brant
BRSA President

Season Opener a Success

Saturday, April 11th was opening day for BRSA's Spring Season.  Recreational games started at 9 am at Blue River Memorial park in Shelbyville.  Travel soccer games followed at noon.  BRSA's own travel teams, Blue River Blast, played as well.  There were a total of 14 recreational games and 18 travel games played on opening day.  This season we are proud to have close to 400 area youth assigned to 31 teams.  It is the most BRSA has had in the last three to five years.  During the games the concession stand was open to serve players and their families.  Despite rain and unfavorable weather the week prior, opening day was a huge success.  Thanks to all of you for attending the games and starting the season off with us.  We look forward to many great games and activities this season.

Celebrating Our
25th Anniversary

BRSA is celebrating 25 years of soccer in our community.  Many activities are planned for this year.  BRSA will be selling commemorative T-shirts at the concession stand.  Shirts are available in sizes ranging from youth small to adult XXlarge.  Cost is just $12 per shirt.  The concession stand will have weekly specials in honor of our 25 years also.  Dine to Donate fundraisers will be held at local restaurants including El Meson, Applebee's and Bob Evans this season to raise money for our organization.  A 5K run/walk will be held in June.  BRSA will be partnering with Indiana Soccer and Indy Eleven to host a Community Day in the fall.  In addition, we are looking for any old photos or articles on BRSA for the last 25 years.  If you have any items, please contact Jana Dorsey, janarph@aol.com.  Watch for more information on our 25th Anniversary celebration throughout the year in future newsletters and our website.

Weekly Parent Tip

Youth athletes have a special ear for their parents' voices. Realize this during games, and make sure what they hear from you is not conflicting with coaches' instructions and intentions.
