Tom's Fishing Stories

Winter 2017 Newsletter

What better way to end a season than to volunteer to get the river ready for the next one? A beautiful December day at Caleb Smith State Park with a bunch of my Long Island Trout Unlimited friends, organized by Pete Harris and Park Manager Clarence Ware (both in the middle front).  We worked on Beats 7 to 9 clearing debris, improving water flow and looking for where the trout are hiding.

Well here is the newest book that I promised you in the last newsletter. Thanks to those of you who suggested titles. The subtitle is 30 Fly Fishing Tips & Tactics so I used most of your suggestions. It is available on Amazon.com for $12.99.  Please click here to go to the Amazon site to see the reviews - or to leave one!
The Fly Fishing Show at Somerset NJ 2017
Once again I need to thank all of you for frequenting the web site Tomsfishingstories.com.  Over 31,000 visits and counting!

The 2016 Fishing Journal is complete and I am looking forward to the first entry on the 2017 season.  The Reading Room has been updated so check it out to find a good book to get you through the winter doldrums. Check the Calendar to see what is going on and, as always, the resources section has guides, lodges, fly shops and organizations.
Speaking of Organizations, this is a great one.  I was invited to make a presentation at the February meeting - Fishing Long Island Spring Creeks. It focuses on the Nissequogue, Connetquot and Carmans and included a little history, a short tour and some tips.  If you have an organization that would be interested in me presenting this or one of my other talks, just reply to this email.
