Coaching Update

We are very pleased to have two of our summer coaches - Maya F-T and Remi S - continuing on with us for the Fall.

And we are pleased to welcome two new coaches - Rick S and Ben M - to the team!  

Our Fall Programs will be lead by a team of four coaches:

  • Junior Learn-to-Row and Junior Recreational - MAYA and REMI
  • Junior Competitive - RICK
  • Adult Novice - MAYA, BEN. and REMI
  • Adult Masters - RICK, MAYA, BEN, and REMI
Maya, Remi, and Ben are all well-known within the club as longstanding members of our junior rowing programs. Rick is new to Mic Mac AAC, and is bringing over 30 years of coaching and rowing experience in St. Catharines to our lake!
Programs for Juniors
(Ages 11-18)
Junior Rowing Programs at Mic Mac AAC are recommended for youth aged 12-18. However, 11-year-olds who are at least 56″ tall or weigh at least 70lbs will also be accepted. 
Junior Learn-to-Row and Junior Recreational Rowing

This program is for youth who are trying the sport for the first time, and/or have completed a Learn-to-Row program, and would like to continue rowing for fun, fitness, and outdoor recreation.

Curriculum includes coaching for safety, injury prevention, equipment, sport terminology, and the basic elements of a rowing stroke – both sculling and sweeping. All rowing equipment is provided.

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15PM-6:00PM
  • Start Date: Thursday, September 10, 2020
  • End Date: Thursday, October 29, 2020

Fee: $120 (+$24 Annual RCA Membership Fees + $15 Annual Row NS Membership Fees, if these have not been paid previously through another program offered since April 1, 2020) 

Junior Competitive Rowing

This program is for athletes aged 13+, with at least one season of rowing experience, training to compete at local, national and international regattas

Participants in this program train 3-5 times / week on the water depending on age, plus additional self-directed strength, flexibility, and cross-training. 

Regatta and uniform expenses are in addition to the program fee

Athletes currently training as part of the Provincial Team would register for this program as part of their “home club” sessions

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4:15PM-6:00PM, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45AM-7:30AM
  • Start Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2020
  • End Date: Saturday, October 31, 2020

Fee: $210 (+$24 Annual RCA Membership Fees + $15 Annual Row NS Membership Fees, if these have not been paid previously through another program offered since April 1, 2020)

Junior Program Funding Assistance:

Families seeking financial assistance are encouraged to review KidSport funding criteria to see if they are eligible. Families can apply for up to $300 per year per child to help offset the cost of organized sport registration and equipment. Rowing programs at Mic Mac AAC are eligible for this funding. Programs for Adults
(Ages 19+)

Adult Novice

This program is for Adults 18+ who have completed a Learn to Row program in 2020 or in previous years, at Mic Mac AAC or any other rowing club.

Participants continue to learn and progress your rowing and boat handling skills with others at the same stage, with a focus on fun and fitness.

Attendance at all classes is not mandatory, but recommended to optimize your pace of fitness and skill development, and value.

Novice program participants who are progressing well could be considered to join the Adult Masters program, would be determined on a case by case basis.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30PM-8:15PM
  • Start Date: Thursday, September 10, 2020
  • End Date: Thursday, October 29, 2020

Fee: $160 (+$24 Annual RCA Membership Fees + $15 Annual Row NS Membership Fees, if these have not been paid previously through another program offered since April 1, 2020)

Adult Recreational and Competitive Masters

This program is for Adult rowers with at least one season of rowing experience.

Coaches will lead a workout and provide coaching consistent with the skill level and training goals of those present.

Workout options will support those who wish to compete, and can be modified as needed for those who prefer a lower intensity or shorter workout.

8 sessions / week will be offered. Participants register for the equivalent of 2, 3, or 4 sessions / week, and sign-up for the sessions that work for them based on their schedules each week.
  • Mondays – 5:45AM-7:30AM, and 6:30PM-8:15PM
  • Tuesdays – 8:00AM-9:45AM
  • Wednesdays – 5:45AM-7:30AM, and 6:30PM-8:15PM
  • Thursdays – OFF
  • Fridays – 5:45AM-7:30AM, and 6:30PM-8:15PM
  • Saturdays – 8:00AM-9:45AM
  • Sundays – OFF
  • Start Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2020
  • End Date: Saturday, October 31, 2020

Fees:

  • Equivalent of 2 sessions / week (16 sessions over 8 weeks total) = $160
  • Equivalent of 3 sessions / week (24 sessions over 8 weeks total) = $230
  • Equivalent of 4 sessions / week (32 sessions over 8 weeks total) = $280

+$24 Annual RCA Membership Fees + $15 Annual Row NS Membership Fees, if these have not been paid previously through another program offered since April 1, 2020.

Adult Learn-to-Row

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we regret to advise that there will be no Adult On-Water Learn-To-Row (LTR) Programs in Fall 2020.

The next On-Water LTR program will be offered in Spring 2021. Details on Spring programs are typically released in late March.

Indoor Rowing Machine (Erg) Rental Program
Fall 2020 Ergometer Rental Program: September 6--November 8
Six (6) of the clubs ergs will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis to individuals for use outside of the club.
Rental Fee and Conditions:
- $75, paid online via the RCA Online Registration system
- Additional annual membership fees of $24 to RCA and $15 to Row NS will be automatically added by the system to the rental fee for those who have not paid them already through registration in a current program.
- $600 post-dated cheque required for damage deposit for non-members renting an erg
- Fees must be paid in full in order to reserve your erg
- The club will specify which ergs are available for rent
- Renters are responsible for erg pick-up and return
