This Month on Diamond Hill

As Spring arrives in Lynchburg, we have many things happening on Diamond Hill and in the local community. First, though, thank you to all who came out and helped at our first Spring Clean Up. This year's volunteers included:
  • Damien Bartholomew
  • Kathryn Becker
  • Bob Halpin
  • Ronnie Hendricks
  • Eric Hovda
  • Julie and Vernon Neighbors
  • Dennis Newton
  • Jeff Potter
  • Jeff Schneider
  • Mari Smallshaw and her sons
  • Matt and Elizabeth Kaplan
  • Bill Young
This was some messy, cold work, so if you see any of the volunteers, please thank them for taking time out of their Saturday to clean up. Special thanks to Julie for arranging for the dumpster and Jeff Schneider for planning the clean ups. The dumpster is still at the corner of Washington and Madison St. You may make use of it to throw away brush and debris. It is NOT intended for paint, any other hazardous materials or regular household garbage. There will be another chance to help out in April. See below.

Diamond Hill Easter Egg Hunt

Kids participating in the 2014 Easter Egg HuntGrab your baskets and hop over to the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 4th at 10 a.m. on the lawn at the corner of Washington and Harrison Streets! All kids 10 and under are welcome to hunt and there will be games for the bigger kids too. If you would like to help out or have any questions, contact Mari Smallshaw at 846-3242 or mws1019@aol.com.

Spring Spruce Up

If you've not heard, the annual Virginia Garden Tour includes the Banker's and the Schneider's homes on Diamond Hill. While they prep their homes and gardens, we're hoping to help out by making the whole community shine. To do so, we added a second clean up to this year's event list. The second clean up will be April 18th, and people should meet in the usual spot at the corner of Washington and Madison at 9 a.m. If you're late, just walk around and look for us. There won't be a dumpster at this clean up; we'll be focusing on adding color to our gardens.

Garden Day on Diamond Hill and in Lynchburg

If you are interested in touring the local homes that are part of Garden Week this year, they will be open Tuesday, April 21, from 10 to 6. Tour tickets are $25 per person, and you can find details for the local tour here, and throughout VA on the Garden Club of Virginia web page.

Host homes

We are doing good on host homes, but we still need a host for the June social. If you would like to host, but need help, we are happy to lend a hand, chairs, and food (and drinks).

Business meetings are always held at 7:30 on the first Tuesday of odd numbered months. Our next meeting will be at the Browns, 601 Pearl St., on May 5th.
