Engaging with the Bushenyi District Landslide hit communities

Given the scope of the ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) www.ranlab.org operations, a team visited and interacted with the communities that were hit recently hit by landslides in Bushenyi district of Uganda. This visit and engagement was in an effort to further asses and appreciate the living conditions in the district given that this was the first landslide in this district.

Back to Traditional Foods Innovation  cookery event and Gala Dinner @ Golf Course Hotel, Kampala Uganda
 

Innovations Team: Brining back traditional foods to the dinner table organized a superfoods cookery event and gala dinner on Friday December 11, 2015. The African Centre for Economic Transformation (ACET) and The Pardee RAND Graduate School (PRGS), in collaboration with Uganda counterparts Saladin Media and Africa Innovations Institute (AFRII) are spearheading an initiative to bring back traditional grains of sorghum and millet to the dinner table.

The first Uganda Innovation Day in Partnership with the Social Innovation Academy (SINA)
 
Saturday December 12, 2015 saw the Social Innovation Academy (SINA) in partnership with Makerere University School of Public Health ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) host the 1st Uganda Innovation Day in Mpigi District, Uganda - near Nsamizi Institute. This event was guided by the Theme:  “Breaking Barriers towards Innovation” as a tool to tackle the unemployment challenge among the youth in Uganda.

Visit to the communities benefiting from some of the RAN Innovations
 
The RAN Team which included the RAN EA RI Lab Innovation Officer and RAN Engagement Manager visited pilot sites for the RootiO Community Radio that is under incubation in the EA RI Lab in Kitgum, Pabbo sub-county, and Oyam districts from December 16 – 18, 2015 to evaluate the Radio’s progress, find out how the community has embraced this radio technology and to establish if there any challenges that users are experiencing since the official launch.
