Carers Conference 2017
Thursday 15th June sees the 15th annual Carers Conference organised by our friends at the Richmond Carers Centre. It all kicks off at 10.00am with tea and coffee followed by an address from Tonia Michaelides the MD of Kingston and Richmond Clinical Commissioning Groups.

From 10.30am onwards the Carers Marketplace will be open with representation from a variety of voluntary sector organisations who support carers across the borough and there's a buffet lunch at 1.00pm.

There are a variety of group workshops and individual sessions on the day from hand massage to free legal advice.  Please note, all conference activities need to be booked in advance - see details in the link below or simply call 0208 867 2380.

Carers In Mind will be there with our stand in the Carers Marketplace with Clare and John in attendance. We will be sharing the wellbeing benefits of aromatherapy!

It's always a fantastic event entirely dedicated to carers. Please come along and join us but confirm your attendance with the Carers Centre on the number above.

Annual Carers In Mind Survey 2017
At Carers In Mind we aim to provide the best service possible to you. It's really important for us to hear what you feel about being involved with the project and in what ways you feel it has supported you personally. All the information you give us remains anonymous and helps inform our funders about the value of the work we do and your input is crucial to shape the project for the future. Hard copies will available at all the support groups and next months lunch and we will e-mail it to everyone this week.

We'd be really grateful if you could take 15 minutes to fill it in and send it back to us either via e-mail or post to Carers In Mind at the address at the top of this newsletter.
Peer Mentor Update and Volunteering Opportunities

As we mentioned in the last newsletter we are committed to ensuring that people who belong to our community are involved in the shaping and delivery of our services at Carers In Mind. So we put out the call for carers who were interested in becoming peer mentors and the response has been fantastic!

There are still a couple of slots left for the training course which will take place in the Wellbeing Centre, Richmond Royal from 6.30pm on the 28th and 29th of June, so please contact us if you want to be involved.

Also if you want to volunteer for Carers In Mind or Richmond Borough Mind please get in touch; without volunteers our services could not flourish as successfully as they do. Volunteers support each of our projects in so many different ways e.g. helping to run an activity group (e.g. drama, creative writing or music appreciation) in our Wellbeing Centre, making sense of figures and paperwork in the office; running stalls at our community fairs and the like. So if you're interested in volunteering for Carers In Mind please contact or for any of our other projects

Dates for your Diary - June to August

Men Mind Too
We've recently revived our Men Mind Too peer-led support group.

We'd like to get some feedback from our male carers as to what they would find helpful as this group develops so we can ensure that it is meeting the specific needs of men who care. So, if you are a male carer please do let me have your thoughts on what you would find useful in this group. The group runs on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 6.30pm in The Cricketers, Richmond Green.

Please call John on 0208 940 7384 or e-mail
Yoga For Carers
Yoga for Carers is up and running, and already people are enjoying the benefits of a regular practice.

Classes take place at Richmond and Putney Unitarian church ('RPUC'), every Tuesday night from 6.30-7.45pm.

Every fifth class we slow the pace and take a more 'restorative' approach. Most classes are influenced by the vinyasa yoga tradition which involves moving from one posture to the next, using the breath to guide each transition. The class welcomes beginners, returners to yoga and more regular yogis, with options or everyone.

The classes are open to your friends and family too, so please spread the word. Please contact Clare if you want to attend.
Summer Holiday

Fancy a few days of sunshine by the coast?

Richmond Mencap are offering a charming three-bedroom bungalow, situated close to the sea front in Eastbourne.

The property sleeps six, and costs between £170 and £250 per week to rent depending on the week in question. Bookings are being taken for 2017 from now up until November.

For further details please contact Sybil Lewis at the Richmond Mencap office on 0208 744 1923.

A belated farewell to Agnes
As many of you are aware, Agnes Ratajewska left our service in spring. Agnes had been a trusted support to so many carers whilst working at Mind, first based in the community and later at Queen Mary Hospital.

Agnes is now working within the Personality Disorder Intensive Treatment Team, as an MBT Practitioner. We are glad to hear she is doing well.

Whilst we currently do not have a support worker based at Queen Mary, we are currently recruiting.
