February 02 - IF CARS COULD TALK - EARLY DUESENBERG: THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD & OTHER INNOVATIONS
Many people, if they’ve heard of Duesenberg, think of the fast and flashy cars owned by the rich and famous in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Before that, however, the Duesenberg brothers had a long history of design and development of high performance engines and vehicles used with considerable success on early race tracks, including multiple wins at the Indianapolis 500. Guest speaker Greg Camp will explore this innovative period for the Duesenberg brothers before the famous J and SJ models.

A newly-enacted law extends Charitable Rollover today and for years to come. The tax extenders package, known as the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015, makes permanent a number of provisions that have previously gone through a constant cycle where they expired at the end of a given year, only to have Congress extend them for a limited time. This cycle has made it difficult for donors to plan their giving effectively.
The key charitable provisions that are made permanent in the tax package allow:
- Taxpayers over 70 1/2 to make donations directly from an IRA and will not be taxed on the amounts—up to $100,000 (The Charitable IRA Rollover).
- Enhanced deductions for charitable contributions of real property for conservation purposes, and for donations of food inventory.
- Shareholders in a S corporation to reduce their basis in the S corporation's stock under Section 1366 only for their share of the basis of property contributed by the S corporation—not the fair market value.
Philanthropic funding is vital to ACM throughout the year. Half of the Museum’s budget relies on donor support to sustain operations, fill the Museum with exciting rotating exhibits and support one-of-a-kind educational opportunities.
If you would like to support America’s Car Museum by making a donation with cash or securities through this unique gifting opportunity, please contact Matt Taylor at 253.683.3950 or matt.taylor@americascarmuseum.org.
