FEATURED VEHICLE
1964 Buick Wildcat Mitchell-Bentley Prototype Series 4600
Engine: V8, 401 cu in, 325hp
Transmission: 3-speed Automatic

Don Mitchell, of Mitchell-Bentley Corporation (a supplier of automotive trim, interiors and custom bodies), proposed that General Motors build a special lightweight fiberglass vehicle. Buick showed interest and selected the 1964 Wildcat as the prototype.  The original Wildcat and Wildcat II Autorama concept show cars of the mid-1950s featured full-fiberglass bodies, but the bodies of production Wildcats were fabricated from steel. Over a period of two months, workers at Mitchell-Bentley removed most of the exterior panels from a stock Wildcat and replaced them with custom-built fiberglass panels.  The car was lightened by 800 lbs.

This high-powered, lightweight prototype was never picked up for production and was retained by Don Mitchell and was acquired by a private collection from the Mitchell estate before being donated to America’s Car Museum.

See this great vehicle and other muscle cars in ACM's American Muscle: Rivals to the End exhibit.
ACM is excited to extend the exhibit of renowned artist, Harold Cleworth through the end of the year.  Known as the “painter laureate of the car”, his trademark “super realism” paintings grace the homes of celebrities along with car and art enthusiasts.  His talent has garnered commissions from car companies, the Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance, and automotive legends including John DeLorean.

Cleworth Ferrari Lithograph Prints (limited edition and signed) will continue to be for sale in the ACM Store while supplies last, proceeds benefit the ACM Education Department.

THE DRIVE HOME
December 27 - January 7
A 2,400-mile road trip from Tacoma to Detroit

Artifacts don’t stay in museums anymore.

Three of ACM’s cars, a 1957 Chevrolet Nomad, a 1961 Chrysler 300G and a 1966 Ford Mustang, will trek from ACM to the place of their automaker’s origin, Detroit, Michigan, this winter. Iconic American auto technology will take on snow and ice for a 13-day transcontinental odyssey.

The Drive Home will consist of a 2,400 mile journey with stops for enthusiast “rallies” in  various cities along the way and concludes with the opening of the North American International Auto Show. Join us for a leg of the trip or keep up-to-date with our travels at americascarmuseum.org/TheDriveHome.

December 01 - #GivingTuesday
Black Friday. Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday!

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back.

It’s a simple idea. On Tuesday, December 1, come together with ACM supporters across the country to give for one common purpose: to celebrate America’s love affair with the automobile. Then tell everyone you can (email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) about how you are giving to support America’s Car Museum.

Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.

Gifts that pay you guaranteed income for life
Do you want to support America's Car Museum but worry about having enough income for yourself and your loved ones? Life-income gifts such as gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts can both provide donors with an income stream, significant tax savings, and the satisfaction of providing ACM with vital long-term resources. A donor may make a life-income gift as part of his or her overall estate planning which also may include making a charitable bequest. In other instances, a life-income gift is made separately.

The creation of a life-income gift benefits both the giver and the receiver—a "win-win" situation.  You make an irrevocable gift of cash, securities or other property to ACM. In exchange, ACM pays you a fixed amount of income for the rest of your life. When your gift annuity ends, its remaining principle passes to ACM.

We would be delighted to assist you in selecting the type of life-income gift that will help you to meet your philanthropic goals. Please contact us today!
