A 2,400-mile road trip from Tacoma to Detroit
Join ACM for the sendoff celebration December 27 at 9 am

Artifacts don’t stay in museums anymore.

Three of ACM’s cars, a 1957 Chevrolet Nomad, a 1961 Chrysler 300G and a 1966 Ford Mustang, will trek from ACM to the place of their automaker’s origin, Detroit, Michigan, this winter. Iconic American auto technology will take on snow and ice for a 13-day transcontinental odyssey.

The Drive Home will consist of a 2,400 mile journey with stops for enthusiast “rallies” in  various cities along the way and concludes with the opening of the North American International Auto Show. Drive with us for a leg of the trip or keep up-to-date with our travels at

Join us on Sunday, December 27 at 8:30am for coffee and donuts on the Anderson Plaza at ACM as we kick-off The Drive Home. Meet the driver’s, talk to the team that prepped the cars for The Drive and check out the three vintage vehicles up close before we send them off on their adventure.

Front forks vs. telescopic forks in the VME display at ACM
Written by Mark Zenor, Chair of the Vintage Motorcycle Festival: The Meet at ACM
The VME display has been curated to display front fork designs that were popular before the advent of the now common and generally seen telescopic forks.  These earlier designs while looking archaic are very functional and in some design areas challenge todays modern designs.

Celebrate the Family Zone anniversary, the new Road Trip Challenge kiosk, Family STEM Day and photos with Santa
On December 19 celebrate the Family Zone's second anniversary with the all-new Road Trip Challenge kiosk, Family STEM Daypictures with Santa and door prizes throughout the day.

The Road Trip Challenge kiosk was created by students from Renton Technical College. A 1998 Ford Mustang was converted to serve as a vehicle for the Road Trip Challenge to teach strategies for wise energy use. On a touchscreen visitors may choose and customize a vehicle, then select fuel to travel to familiar destinations across the country.

Funding for the Road Trip Challenge kiosk at America’s Car Museum was provided by the Norcliffe Foundation and through partnerships with the Creative Discovery Museum, U.S. Department of Energy, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and the BioEnergy Science Center.

Surely my money can work harder than this!
Interest rates have continued at near-record low levels in 2015. This is good news if you are a borrower and bad news if you are lender. And if you are an investor in certificates of deposits (CDs) or bonds —or even the holder of a money market account or a depositor in a bank—you are in effect a lender. Bonds present a dual dilemma: not only are current rates low, but you also run the risk of losing principal if market rates rise.
This has left many investors pondering how they can use the value of their money to generate more current cash flow. Some of ACM’s friends have found creative ways to do this by addressing their personal objectives and their charitable objectives simultaneously.
You can leverage the power of a life-time income gift to ACM by funding it with highly appreciated stock that pays little or no dividends—and possibly save capital-gain tax in the process. To learn more about how we can assist you with meeting your philanthropic goals and you can help sustain the mission of ACM, please contact Matt Taylor at 253.683.3950 or
