  • Anyone who refers a new member will also be eligible to win prizes (the more people you refer, the more chances you have to win)
  • Regions can receive $200 for regional activities for the most new members before December 31st. Three awards are available for small (10-49 members), medium (50-99), and large (100+) regions

Light the World - Call for Entry (Nov. 1 - 30)

Light is our primary tool for perceiving and understanding the world around us. Without light there is no vision. Light allows us to appreciate the world through shape and form and evokes emotions. Common qualities of light are intensity, quality, color, direction, distribution, texture and movement. Artists are encouraged to explore how light creates and transforms your art.

Congratulations to the artists selected for Land Art: From the Forest to Your Balcony (SAQA Virtual Gallery)!

Outdoor artwork installations provide temporal beauty within the community. Ingenuity, art supplies, and imagination, are all that one needs to create an outdoor installation that invites exploration or participation. In the freedom of an outdoor context, even traditional art has the power to interact with the landscape in a new and meaningful way.

Visit the virtual gallery and be sure to click See Details under each image to find out more about each piece, including additional images, videos, and statements. Click on any square image to launch the slideshow.

Kaffe Fassett and Erin Lee Gafill: A Creative Conversation

Presented by San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles

Last week, we had an exciting conversation with two influential creatives, textile artist Kaffe Fassett and painter Erin Lee Gafill. They discussed the inspiration behind their recent publication Color Duets, a visual memoir chronicling Erin’s decade-long collaboration with her uncle Kaffe. Two artists a generation apart talk about their shared childhood influences growing up at Nepenthe, in Big Sur, California, the deep satisfaction they get from working with their hands, be it painting, knitting, needlepoint or sewing, and the extraordinary role color plays in their designs, and in their lives.
