Time is Running Out
to Save the Shattuck Cinemas
Your attendance is vitally needed NOW
On May 5 the City Council is calling a special session to receive input from the public to determine significant community benefits. Significant benefits are what the developers must provide to the community for being able to build these high rises. Rebuilding the Shattuck Cinemas in the proposed 2211 Harold Way would be a significant benefit. There are other options being suggested including putting money into a "fund" and not building anything or doing something completely different instead of rebuilding the cinemas.
To date we have submitted 4177 Stop the Demolition of the Landmark Shattuck Cinemas petition signatures to city officials. It has made an impact - scheduling this special meeting. A meeting isn't enough if we don't show up.
Let's all (not just Berkeley) be there on May 5th, everyone is welcome. Public response matters.
You can support the movie theater quietly from the audience (we'll have signs you can hold) or by speaking to the council directly to share your concerns.
Bring friends, neighbors, movie buddies and share this widely
