Dear friends,

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2023. This month we are focussing on the supervision stream within the Mindfulness Network. For many years we have been providing mindfulness-based supervision through our excellent team of supervisors. We have a broad range of supervisors who can support teachers with many different mindfulness-based programmes and a variety of ways of teaching mindfulness. We also have supervisors offering supervision in Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Icelandic, and Welsh. We have been reflecting together about the changing landscape of teaching mindfulness, and how supervision can support teachers with innovation and adaptations as well as bedding deeply into existing curricula. To find out more about our supervisors and their availability please visit our website.

This month we wanted to let you know about our Mindfulness-Based Supervision Training Pathway which has been in development for many years now. Over the years we have expanded from the foundational 3-day training to add other ways you can build your skills and confidence as a mindfulness-based supervisor. Madeleine - our Content Marketing Coordinator - has been developing visuals to help lay out the different options you might like to take, see below. We also know that there can be a lot of information to digest, so do sit back and watch our short video explainers if you'd like to know more.

Wishing you all a happy and easeful year.

The Mindfulness-Based Supervision Training Pathway

At the Mindfulness Network, we passionately believe that Mindfulness-Based Supervision (MBS) is a key way of enabling mindfulness-based teachers to be the best they can be, and to do their work with integrity. Therefore mindfulness-based supervisors need to be well trained for this responsible role.

Huge thanks to Alison and Pamela for all their care, attention to detail, compassion and skilful 'holding' of the learning container over these 2 days."

"This retreat offered integration of my sense of myself and my meditation practice into my role of supervisor. Would highly recommend and will likely attend again in future."

"Great to have a retreat focused on revisiting the skills and attitudes of mindfulness supervision and the challenge of moving in and out from family life to retreat space helped focus and flex my mindfulness practice."

Over on the blog, Alison Evans tells us why mindfulness-based supervision goes far beyond supporting new teachers on training programs, and is vital in supporting your journey and lifelong practice:
We have the potential within Mindfulness-based Supervision to go deeper, for example: into aspects of teaching, personal practice, our underlying patterns of reactivity, and our unconscious bias. We can get more nuanced in our understandings and perceptions. The conversations become increasingly grounded in embodied presence and opening to what might emerge. I would suggest that these conversations can be transformational.
