Monday Funday!

Sparking Joy for Learning Designers.

Good morning!
We had a rainy weekend here in Louisville this past weekend, and yet, life for many of us continues to trend upwards. I hope you're staying safe and sane. I pray that there are less COVID cases in your area and that life is feeling a little more normal.

To help spark a little joy in your week, I'm sharing some tips for how to make even dull software training a little more interesting. Spend a few extra minutes adding a backstory that shows why someone needs to use software.

For example, instead of teaching how a manager should start a termination, we meet a character named Quinn D Quitter who is leaving her position to take care of a family member in bad health. For more examples, check out the video below.
Finding Characters
Where do you find lots of easy-to-use characters? You don't have to use Articulate. There are plenty of other good options.

A subscription to eLearningArt.com is one place to start. They are a particularly good choice for anyone who primarily uses PowerPoint. All the characters are editable in PowerPoint.

Another choice is within PowerPoint. The Stock Images choice will take you to a recently added cutout people section.

Focus
I've recently subscribed to a newsletter called brainpint that shares helpful articles like this guide to focusing on a common issue for most of us. How do you make the most of your time to get it all done?

How to Make the Most of Your Time and Your Life.

Tech Tools
Do you ever zone out during a Zoom meeting? Ever wish you had a transcript of what took place when you were busy in another open tab?

You may be interested in this app called Perfect Recall that automatically transcribes the meeting for you.
