Mentoring Newsfeed
October 2016
© Phil Moore
Hi all,
Quite a few months already without a Mentoring Newsfeed: the summer period has been a busy one.
As usual, I'm sharing with you few articles, links which you might find relevant, or at least will feed your never-ending reflection and curiosity.

I would also like to inform you that we have just held our 6th Mentoring Workshop in Brussels (12-14th of September):
  • A new batch of great Mentors are now available on the market! ;)
  • This workshop was again synonym of great MSF diversity and quality, as we got participants from 4 Operational Centers.
Take good care of yourselves.

Listening: it's about more than keeping quiet.
"Most people think good listening comes down to doing three things:
  • Not talking when others are speaking
  • Letting others know you’re listening through facial expressions and verbal sounds (“Mmm-hmm”)
  • Being able to repeat what others have said, practically word-for-Word"
Youngers managing elders?!
"7 Ways Young Leaders Succeed with Elders":
The title of this article did sound both interesting and strange to me, at first.
I guess in MSF, by "Elders" we understand the very old ones, mostly our patients, or perhaps some of our colleagues already being pensionist! But, well, "Elders" are not always that old :)
Some interesting tips here! And I encourage you to even challenge and question some of these!

In case you feel like you are following too many reflections/debates from an MSF perspective (CRASH, MSF Analysis etc...), you might enjoy reading more from this ICRC blog here, and even register to their newsletter!

This news feed is proposed to all Mentees
(FdCo, HoM, PMR, MedCo and HrCo) and Mentors. Please,
let me know if you have any articles you would like
to share with our colleagues!
