Tour of Britain – Cornwall Stage
|
|
Not long now until 5th September and the first stage of the Tour of Britain – featuring our patron Chris Opie (along with Mark Cavendish, Wout van Aert and other stars). The race is due to pass through Truro at approximately 13.46, and Truro BID and Truro City Council have partnered with the Old Bakery Studios to stage a one-day free event celebrating the race. From 11.30am, Lemon Quay will play host to live music, Mountain Bike Stunt Shows, a bicycle art station, performers, DJs, street food and a bar. We will be sharing a stand on the Quay with Truro Cycling Campaign and would be hugely grateful if you could spare an hour or two to help. Please contact Paul if you can help.

Unlock the fascinating history and breathtaking beauty of the ancient kingdom of Kernow on this 230km ride around the tip of Cornwall.
The West Kernow Way is Cycling UK's latest long-distance route which will be ready to ride on 3 September 2021. Designed to be ridden over three to four days, the off road trail begins and ends in Penzance, and will take in many of the highlights of the western half of the Cornish peninsula, including the Botallack tin mines, Land’s End, St Michael’s Mount and Lizard Point.
If you'd like to experience the best of West Cornwall by bike, why not grab a copy of the comprehensive route guide? Written by archeologist-turned-MTB-writer Guy Kesteven

We have had a few requests for bike maintenance sessions – is there anything you’d particularly like to learn about? (Suggestions so far include punctures, changing a tire, and oiling your chain). We’d also welcome Top Tips to include in the Newsletter. Here’s mine: If you’re not juddering on Boscawen Street, then it’s high time your tyres were pumped up!

As you may know, this is well on its way. We still need someone to take responsibility for content and updating. Please don’t be shy and please contact Melinda if this is something you could consider. She would also like some blog posts for the new site – for example: Ride reports; Why you joined the club and/or what you enjoy about it; What it’s like to ride a time trial…
