Di Ford Hall was one of the world’s most influential quilt artists and fabric designers who sadly passed away last year. She was known worldwide for her passion of vintage quilts and textiles. The Windermere Quilt is the final pattern Di Ford Hall created, a true textile heirloom and a beautiful tribute to a remarkable quilt artist. The quilt features traditional applique and broderie perse prints from her previous Windermere, Mailing Road and Rochester collections, with the gorgeous medallion print forming the focal point of this stunning quilt.
Designed and begun by Di, it has recently been completed by her friends The Secret Sewing Sisters. The pattern has been written by Lenora of Elmgrove Patchwork. The pattern forms part of a 32 page booklet which also includes a tribute to Di. A small donation from each booklet sold will go to The Leukaemia Foundation.

Our kit includes all the fabrics required from the quilt top and binding (approximately 20m) plus the pattern booklet and is priced £295. The finished quilt is 82" x 82". Please note that this kit is only recommended for patchworkers with experience of applique and broderie perse.

The estimated delivery date for Windermere is in late August.
This queen-sized (88" square) quilt features a variety of traditional blocks from log cabin to Dresden fans divided by graduated sashings and cornerstones that give the quilt centre a glow. The quilt is made from a collection called memories by Kaye England: a collection of mostly small patterns in rich blues, greens, warm golds, reds, a touch of orange and a variety of neutrals. The result is a traditional quilt with a varied colour palette that has a structured, but scrappy style - an heirloom for today and tomorrow.

The kit includes all the fabrics for the quilt top and binding (16.5m approximately) plus full pattern instructions.

Reflections is available to pre-order now with an estimated delivery date of October/November.
Aubergine features another fabric collection by Kaye England called Purple Majesty. Aubergine is just one of the rich colours in this regal collection that also includes lavender, mauve and, of course, purple with contrasts of cool blue/green.

The centre of this queen-sized quilt (86" square) features a cleverly constructed square-set, nine block layout that fools the eye into seeing five of the blocks as set on-point, creating a dynamic visual effect. A beautiful floral frames the quilt with the darker colours drawing the eye in to the central design. The Aubergine kit includes all the fabrics for the quilt top and binding plus full pattern instructions.

Aubergine is available to pre-order now with and estimated delivery date of November/December.
Free Spirit designer Odile Bailloeul has a vivid imagination and loves bright colours. Put the two together and she creates the most amazing designs. Jardin de la Reine (Garden of the Queen) is a perfect example - bejewelled birds, giraffes with butterfly bows, extravagant blooms (hiding even more birds) - the fabrics are a visual feast!
We have nine prints available by the metre or as a Fat Quarter pack. The pack also includes instructions to make a 36" x 45" Accent quilt using 8 of the fabrics.
The Queen’s Jewels print (above left with the pink background) is a big design and the bird is approximately 9" from crown to tail. For this reason a minimum of 75cm must be ordered as this will ensure one repeat of the design is complete.
By complete contrast - the only similarity being that Odile and Shell are both Free Spirit designers - we have Time & Tide. Soft tones, semi-abstract designs and a restricted colour palette are trademark features of Shell’s fabric collections and this one is no exception.
Inspiration for the sea and the coast can be seen in these subtle designs: patterns of sea and rock, barnacles and sea urchins. Fabrics are available by the metre and we have a Fat Quarter pack of all 10 prints.
The signature print from this collection is this bold, dramatic design above. Rock pools, sea crashing against the shore or perhaps an abstracted landscape it depends what element catches the eye, but there is no doubt that it offers some interesting design potential.
Keeping with the Maritime theme, but evoking memories of fun-filled days at the beach (remember them?!), we have Beside the Sea from Makower. It’s another delightful collection - they do nautical so well - that lends itself to quilts, bags and accessories such as these Patchwork Bags, available as a kit in two colourways.
The 16 piece collection includes this lovely, double-edge border print, above, with a beach scene that runs along both selvedges.
As well as all fabrics available by the metre we have a big Fat Quarter bundle of all 16 prints.
If you are looking for subtle, simple prints then we have a good range of light prints that make excellent setting fabrics for quilt designs. Our most popular selection is our Makower Essentials, which all have a white overprint, but we also have other collections with colours ranging from white through ivory to pale and deep cream

If you are looking for variety then we can recommend the Essentials pre-cuts: our 5" Charm has a selection of 30 different prints drawn from Essentials and other current stock such as these Apple Cider prints below. Our Patchwork Palette has 20 different prints cut to 10" square, above.
Makower’s Essentials also come in a random selection of 5 different prints cut as Fat Quarters, in white, light cream of light grey.
White on white prints are not easy to photograph so these two, new, themed groups are shown above with the design as a black outline - do take note that the design is actually printed in white!.

Ramblings Holiday, above left has maritime images while Ramblings Festive is Christmas themed. Fabrics are all available by the metre or as two Fat Quarter packs of 6 fabrics as shown.
Lauched last week, these fabulous Gelato Ombres from Maywood Studio are the perfect way to add light and lustre to your quilts. The fabrics come in a wide selection of vibrant hues, all with a gradation that starts with the darker hues at the selvedge, becoming lighter towards the centre and then a mirror of the colour change back out to the other selvedge.
As well as stocking all 28 colour gradations by the metre, we now have two pre-cut packs available. The Gelato Fat Quarter pack contains a fat quarter yard (18" x 21" approximately) of all 28 prints. The 2-1/2" Design Roll also contains 40 strip so some colours are duplicated. At £58.95 this is our most expensive 2-1/2" bundle ever, but is also a wonderful opportunity to sample the colour gradation of all the Ombres, especially if you are planning a project using these fabrics.
On the subject of projects, we have a two new patterns specifically created for Gelato Ombres. Above left is Peaks and Valleys which measures 68" x 85". This can be made from the Ombre Design roll plus 1.75m of white and 1.75m of black for the background.

Above right is Hermosa, is a slightly smaller quilt at 54" x 76" with a very striking design. Again, this is made using the Ombre Design Roll plus 2m of a white for the background..
While Tula Pink’s Alice in Wonderland inspired collection, Curiouser & Curiouser, remains stuck down a rabbit hole we are delighted to have in stock this collection of twenty Aurifil 50wt threads. Specifically curated for Tula’s fabrics, the 200m spools come in two Wonderland-themed boxes, presented in an outer box. However, as Alice would no doubt agree, you aren’t restricted to using these with Tula’s fabrics, they would look fabulous teamed up with those Gelato Ombres!
