The much anticipated Peter Rabbit fabrics are now in stock! There are five character designs plus a 65 x 110cm panel that would make a lovely focal point for a quilt. Fabrics are available by the metre or we have a fat quarter bundle that includes all five character prints. Just in time for Christmas!
The beautiful decay of abandoned elements inspired this collection by Tim Holtz known as Memoranda. Handwritten documentation and colourful ephemera are layered with faded tape to create a unique timeworn aesthetic. Memoranda re-imagines remnants of the past into collaged works of pattern and print.
Memoranda’s subdued colour palette complements neutral decor tones - the retro-style imagery adds interest to the calm and understated colours.
This Memoranda Tile quilt, designed by Nik Sewell, makes a great throw for a bed or sofa. It takes advantage of some of the big design repeats in Memoranda with just 20 patches making up the quilt top of this 42" x 54" quilt. The print designs make it look more complex than it is: three of the patches are 18" square!
Our kit includes nine prints from the collection for the quilt top and a Tim Holtz print for the binding plus instructions. It’s quick and easy to make with just two inset (partial) seams so suitable for any skill level except beginner. The kit is £39.95.
At 42" wide, if you are careful you can back this with a single drop of a regular patchwork fabric. Nik used another Tim Holtz design called Plaid (7377-23, below right). 1.5m is required.
This Kaffe Fassett Collective Festive quilt kit includes approximately 9.5m of prints including a shot cotton and new stripe for the border (backing not included) plus complete instructions. The contrasting red and green prints give it a Festive vibe, but we think it would look good all year round! The finished quilt measures 72" x 89".
Festive Jewel is available from June 2020 and is priced £149.95. However, we are offering a 10% discount if you order before the end of January, £134.95. There is nothing to pay in advance, you will only be charged when the quilt is despatched to you in June.
The humming of the sewing machine, the repetitive motion of a needle passing through interwoven fibres, the joy of a fresh rotary blade, the gentle steam of a hot iorn, the accomplishment of making something with our own hands, these are the things that bind us together.

From January we will be carrying a new range of Nine Patch rulers designed by Marti Michell. These innovative rulers improve on strip techniques as they guide you in cutting very accurate strip widths which means accurate blocks and more pleasing patchwork! They are available in 7 sizes; 2", 3", 4", 4.5", 5", 6" and 8". You can find out more about them by watching Marti’s YouTube video.
To learn the benefits of these rulers and create some wonderful nine patch projects in the process we recommend you join the Nine Patch Parade, a six month sewalong event hosted by Gnome Angel and From Marti Michell (FMM). It’s simple to join via Instagram using the hashtag #FMM9PatchParade or join the GnomeAngel Facebook group. There is also the opportunity to win prizes, it might even be from the Cotton Patch as we are one of the sponsors for the sewalong!
So how does it work?
Each month Angie from GnomeAngel will be prompting you to make and share a 9 patch project based on a Marti Michell pattern. You’ll have 1 week to find out a little bit more about that month’s project and then select and prepare your fabrics. There will then be 2 weeks for you to make your project, and in the 4th week of the month you’ll be prompted to share your finished project. Don’t worry if you’re not confident with social media, Angie will provide beginner tutorials and information on how to use Instagram and Facebook to participate.
What do I need to participate?
The sewalong is based around Marti Michell 9 Patch Starter Set which contains a 3” nine patch ruler, a 4” nine patch ruler and 6 Marti Michell 9 Patch Patterns. This costs £27.50 plus postage and is available to pre-order now for delivery in January 2020. Use of Marti’s rulers and templates does assume that you own a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat. If you don’t then you can find more information by clicking here.
What are the projects?
The projects are based on 6 of Marti’s 9 Patch Patterns. You can make anything based around these patterns, so think mini quilt, baby quilt, full sized quilts, cushions, zipper pouches, bags and more. There will be minimum requirements for each project which will be outlined at the beginning of every month. You will, of course, need fabric, but you are free to choose whatever you want: use fabrics from your stash or choose one our suggested bundles that we will be offering each month.
