It’s been a busy few weeks at The Cotton Patch, with loads of new collections arriving for the change of season. But do not fear, it’s not all just Christmas from here on out; we have plenty of ranges inspired by our furry friends and padfooted pals - enough to write a whole newsletter about them!

We’re kicking it off with some winter themed prints but make sure you keep scrolling to see some wild wonders and tail wagging pals. Before we do so we thought this would be a great time to introduce you to our resident smile maker and all-round good boy, Oscar!
Woodland creatures have been hugely popular in the design world for several years now. The combination of our favourite creatures - owls, hedgehogs, bears, deer, foxes, with some winter florals and woodland scenery on soft pastel tones makes for some gorgeous, modern winter collections. Many of the colours and designs are not overtly Christmas making them suitable for all year round cool quilts.
Dreaming of Snow from Clothworks features all our favourite woodland creatures wrapped up in woollies to protect them from the coming snow.
Winter in Bluebell Woods from Lewis & Irene features friendly woodland animals and pretty winter florals.
Snowy Magic by Victoria Borges for Studio E is another collection that features furies keeping cosy in their scandi-style knits.
Merriment is a beautifully illustrated winter collection by Gingiber for Moda, featuring pre-cuts and two panels of elegant woodland creatures, plus a gorgeous advent calender.
Skogen is a Christmas fabric collection from Dashwood Studio featuring modern, Scandinavian designs of owls, doves and deer with gold metallic detailing. The contrast of the cool blues and bright reds gives the collection a very fresh look.
Our Skogen Fat Quarter bundle includes all 9 fabrics in the collection plus instructions to make a small Accent quilt if you wish, shown below left. We also have another Fat Quarter Accent bundle, also from Dashwood, featuring woodland creatures in soft, muted tones. Dusk to Dawn is currently on offer at just £24.95 while stocks last.
Darling Meadow by Tanya Whelan offers a fresh, spring take on woodland creatures (below left). Like the other packs, instructions are included for making an Accent quilt from the nine fabric bundle. And the same is true of Meadowlark, below right, by Dena Designs, an eight Fat Quarter bundle.

They may be fearsome hunters in real life, but nothing is cuter than a polar bear print on fabric. Arctic themed prints are perfect for gifts that feel Christmassy but can stay out and be loved all year round.
Polar Opposites is a gorgeous children’s collection from Timeless Treasures, with fluffy penguins, grinning polar bears and goofy walrus.
Arctic is a soft, pastel toned collection of polar bears, mountains and falling snow from Robert Kaufman. Available as a Fat Quarter pack of six fabrics and by the metre.
Laska is the latest collection designed by Jilly P for Dashwood Studio. Curious polar bears and grinning whales with coordinates in navy and ice blue with a dash of ginger and chartreuse.
Lake Caribou is at the opposite end of the artistic spectrum - a semi-realistic, beautifully illustrated panel of a family of Reindeer, designed by Lynnea Washburn and complemented by two coordinating prints.
A quilt is for life, so if you’re gifting someone special with a beautiful me-made project check out our favourite prints featuring our four legged friends and farm animals: we’ve got some collections they’re going to love!
Farm Fresh brings you Gingiber’s signature animals along with plenty of fun, summery patterns to create the most happy and fresh quilts! With pre-cuts, by the metre and stand-out panels available in multi-colour or monochrome.
One of a Kind from Stof is a collection of three digitally printed fabrics featuring a medley of dogs, cats or horses.
See our felted Animal kits as well:- they are Oscar’s favourites!
Is anything cuter than the “Love Is...” collection by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs? It’s now back in stock due to popular demand. The two adorable panels make perfect baby quilts.
Our final, animal-inspired theme this week is dedicated to the beautiful animals that most of us only get to see through the eyes of Sir David Attenborough!

For even more animal prints of every shape and size, check out our Cats & Other Creatures section where you will find all the animal related fabrics that we stock.
Wide open plains, lions sitting under a shade tree trying to keep cool, elephants at a watering hole, zebras grazing, and giraffes plucking leaves from the highest branch - just arrived is this new collection by Stacey Iest Hsu. Stacey’s style and colour choice fits the theme perfectly. We have a selection of pre-cuts plus eight fabric available by the metre if you need to add sashing and/or borders to your projects. Our eight fat quarter pack includes instructions to make this lovely small quilt that is sure to remain a treasured item for any animal lover.
This collection of prints from Lewis & Irene will add a touch of the exotic to any decor with a kaleidoscope of majestic cats, tropical jungle prints and a fabulous metallic tiger face. Our Panthera nine Fat Quarter bundle also includes instructions to make the 36" x 45" quilt below.
Out of Africa is a three fabric collection that includes this beautifully detailed panel of the wildest of the wild on the map of Africa, ideal for the true explorer. Featuring 6 different blocks, each block is approximately 11" (27.5cm) square.
On a lighter note, Animal Magic is a fun collection of wild animals including penguins, pandas, spider monkeys and llamas! Great for smaller projects such as bags and cushions.
Last, but definitely not least for breathtaking detail are these Call of the Wild panels. These digitally printed panels from Hoffman show stunning images of wolves, bears and wild horses and the landscapes they live in. Fabulous!
