£4.6Bn of help announced today.

There is more help for business affected by the third UK lockdown. Here are the new sources of help, with links to the relevant websites.

Top up grants for hospitality, retail and leisure businesses.

The grant is linked to your rateable value, and is available for each property occupied.
The maximum grant is £9,000 (for RVs of over £51,000), but even the smallest premises will attract a £4,000 grant. www.gov.uk/guidance/check-if-your-business-is-eligible-for-a-coronavirus-grant-due-to-national-restrictions-for-closed-businesses

If you aren't registered for rates, you may be eligible for part of the £594m discretionary fund announced this morning. This is not limited to those sectors listed above. This grant will be administered by local authorities ("LA"), so keep an eye on your LA's website for further details.

Plymouth City Council have been really good at getting these grants out during the pandemic so I expect to see something on their website in the near future.

And just a reminder of the other support still available.

The self-employed can get the SEISS and applications for November to January have been open since mid-December. You may be asked for evidence of a COVID-related drop in income, so if you need management accounts, we can help you produce them.

Employers can use the furlough scheme, and reclaim 80% of the wages for the furlough hours. This flexibility will still require you to comply with employment law and you may want to take advice. Let us know if you need an introduction.

Business Bounceback Loans and its big brother CBILS can still be obtained. Applications must be made on or before 31 January. Contact me if you need help in assessing the amount to claim.
Your own bank is the best place to start; just search "business bounceback loan" on their website.

If you are an "innovative business" the future fund offers loans of between £125,000 and £5,000,000.

Income tax payers may be able to set up a self-serve instalment arrangement using their government gateway log in details.

Visit www.gov.uk/business-coronavirus-support-finder and follow the link to see what support you may be able to claim.

There seem to be announcements made on a weekly basis, so do get in touch if you think we've missed anything,

and of course, if I can help in any way at all, even if it is a "listening ear" I'd be happy to help.

Remember, I am the owner of a small business too.

Kind regards,

Keep safe

Steve Carey
