STOCK THE PETERSON'S PANTRY
Karl & Sue Peterson and their son, Jonathan, are missionaries who are part of Serve Globally with the Evangelical Covenant Church in Mexico City. Typically they spend four years in a country of service and one year living in the U.S. to visit supporting churches and individuals, seek further training and to connect with family and friends. The Petersons are looking forward to their year in the Twin Cities which begins at the end of August.

Here’s how our church can support them with immediate needs:
  • Queen mattress only (no box spring)
  • Dresser
  • The use of a vehicle for Jonathan to travel to his job
  • Pantry items to stock their kitchen when they arrive: Sign Up Here, If you prefer not to use Sign-up Genius, there will be a list of pantry items at the Welcome Center on Sundays, or in the church office during the week. Please bring only items on the list.
  • If you’d like to contribute to perishable items (which will be purchased later), please bring Cub Foods gift cards.
Would you be willing to join us in blessing the Peterson family? If so, please drop off your item/s beginning Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Welcome Center or during the week in the church office. We’ll plan to have all our donations collected by Labor Day weekend. For any questions, contact Louise Wilson.

Thanks so much for your generosity to help our missionaries to Mexico City during their year on home assignment!

Wholehearted Faith by Rachel Held Evans, with Jeff Chu
Wednesday, August 17 @ 7:00pm

Kate and Dan Makosky's home
Rachel Held Evans was one of those voices in the wilderness who validated that it was okay to have questions about faith and religion. Begun before her untimely death, and completed posthumously by Jeff Chu, through theological reflection and personal recollection, Evans wrestles with God's grace and love, looks unsparingly at what the Church is and does, and explores universal human questions about becoming and belonging. An unforgettable, moving, and intimate book.

Charles Lindbergh: A Religious Biography of America's Most Infamous Pilot by Christopher Gehrz
August 18 @ 6:30pm
Pastor Anne and Gordy's home
Have you ever wondered what's below the surface of our cultural and national icons? Local author, professor, and friend of FCC, Chris Gehrz has done a deep dive on aviator Charles Lindbergh. Lindbergh spend much of his adult life reflecting on mortality, divinity, and metaphysics. In this short biography, we see Lindbergh as he was -- neither an adherent nor an atheist, a historical case study of an increasingly familiar contemporary phenomenon: the "spiritual but not religious." Chris Gehrz will join us for our discussion in August.
