Thanks for reading our weekly email!
Each week we connect you with the details that you need to know for worship and for the rest of our life together.
JOIN US THIS SUNDAY FOR WORSHIP!
Sunday, June 19 beginning at 9:30am

We are highlighting World Refugee Day (officially June 20), Juneteenth, Father's Day, and there's a cinnamon roll fundraiser! This Sunday we welcome our guest preacher, Tom Albinson, as we ask the question - what do we have to offer a world that's losing hope?

Tom Albinson has been serving refugees full-time since 1981. Tom serves as founder and President of International Association for Refugees (IAFR) - a Christian mission dedicated to helping people survive and recover from forced displacement. IAFR has active ministry locations in the Twin Cities, Atlanta, Ft. Morgan (CO), France, Malta, Italy, Austria, Kenya, and Malawi. Learn more at www.IAFR.org.

In 2013, Tom was appointed by World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) to serve as Ambassador for Refugees, Displaced and Stateless People. Among other things, this role gives him access to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Tom is an active founding member of the Refugee Highway Partnership - a growing international network of churches and Christian agencies serving refugees and forcibly displaced people. Tom was based in Austria from 1981-2003. Tom and his wife, Donna, have been married since 1985. They have two children and live in Plymouth, Minnesota. Check the links below for a World Refugee Day article written by Tom Albinson. Hard copies will be available on Sunday at the Summer Resource Table.

It's also Juneteenth! Juneteenth (a mash-up of the words June and nineteenth) celebrates June 19, 1865. On this day, enslaved Africans in Texas finally received word that they had been emancipated -- over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Abraham Lincoln. The Evangelical Covenant's Jelani Greenidge has provided some great resources to better understand and celebrate this important holiday. We've linked those below.

We'll see you for worship this weekend - in person and on our livestream!

BOUNDARY WATERS CINNAMON ROLL SALE FUNDRAISER
Follow the aroma of delicious baking cinnamon rolls to Upper Fellowship Hall following worship this Sunday! We'll have rolls for sale as a fundraiser for our youth attending the Adventurous Christians Boundary Waters Trip this July: Henry Holm, Anders Hanson, Josh Loveland, Eva Taylor, and Nora Weiss. Cinnamon rolls make a great treat for yourself, or a Father's Day gift! Please bring cash or check to purchase.

This week Jon & Michelle Fure, Kate Makosky and Pastor Anne & Gordy Swanson (non-delegate) will be in Kansas City as delegates at the annual meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Please hold them in prayer along with all the decisions being made at this meeting. Join us next Sunday, June 26 to hear more about outcomes that impact our life together.

In case of a Pastoral Care Emergency please leave a message on Pastor Anne’s voicemail (call the church office at (651)774-0344)); she’ll be checking regularly.

It's the season for summer vacations -- including on our Ministry Team! Richard Voth is out of the office through Sunday, June 27.

Your generosity makes our ongoing ministry here on the East Side, and around the world, possible. We're thankful for your generosity and continued support. You can give online, in worship each Sunday, or by mailing your gift to the church office.

Camp Celebration at 5:00pm on Thursday, July 28

First Covenant Church of Saint Paul (1280 Arcade Street)
At Discovery Camp we're marveling at the created world, encouraging a holy curiosity, and discovering God all around us. Questions and creativity are encouraged as we discover together who we're created to be, that we're loved by Jesus, and how we live out that love. We're excited that our day camp is back this summer through the partnership of First Covenant Church and Family Values for Life. Cost: $5/camper, $20 max/family. Scholarships available.

Volunteers are needed! Camp doesn't happen without a team of youth and adults! We need help with registration, small group leaders and helpers, set up and clean up, first aid, floaters, and the Thursday celebration. Click the link below to register a camper or volunteer. We'll see you there!
