All aboard... it's October in Albany!

As much needed rain returns to Oregon's Willamette Valley, vibrant fall colors adorn our backroads and city streets. The aroma of pumpkin spices and mulled apple cider waft through our open Farmers Market. Hordes of tiny ghouls invade businesses during a city-wide Halloween Trick or Treat event, and our celebrated Nosh Tour chefs transform locally sourced ingredients into a smorgasbord of delectable tidbits. It's the perfect month to build future memories. So hop on the train, the trolley, the bicycle or the motorcycle—we hope to see you soon in Albany Oregon.

Trolley of Terror and VIP Ghost Hunt

Back by popular demand, the Monteith Society is once again hosting two fun and spooky historical experiences this October: a candlelit tour of the Monteith House Museum followed by a ride on the Trolley of Terror; and a VIP ghost-hunting experience at the Monteith House. Both are sponsored by the Monteith Historical Society.

The Trolley of Terror will take place on October 21, 22, 28 and 29. Tours begin at 6:00 p.m. and run on the hour until 9:00 p.m. The VIP ghost hunt experience will take place on Saturday, October 22nd and Saturday, October 29th, from 10:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Each VIP experience is limited to 10 people. VIPs will be joined by experienced paranormal investigators and learn how to use various pieces of ghost hunting equipment.

Reservations are highly recommended as space is limited. Call the Albany Visitors Association at 541-928-0911 to reserve your seats today! Learn more about both tours.

The Seven Wondrous Trails - Culinary Delights

The third installment in our posts dedicated to our local trails of food, drink, events and recreation is online. Whether it's your first visit or you've lived here for a long time, we bet you'll discover something new along the way. AVA Executive Director Jimmie Lucht shares a little bit of history and a lot of local food and drink in his latest blog dedicated to our region's culinary magic. Follow the trail to a full and happy visit.

Total Solar Eclipse. Albany style.

Albany, Oregon, is prime viewing for the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse on August 21st, at approximately 10:00 a.m. Visitors to our city will be treated to a nearly two-minute sky show, and so we're gearing up for a big viewing party at the Infinite Air Center.

We need your help! We're trying to decide on a title for our party, that will be used on collectable posters, programs, and other commemorative items.

If you vote on the "tag line" by selecting your favorite, all responders will be entered into a drawing for Bo-Macks BBQ sauce and cornbread mix. Vote here.
