Aberdeen Local Development Plan

August 2020
COVID-19 Coronavirus update
Due to the current Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, non-essential Council staff including our team are currently working remotely. Due to this, email is the most reliable form of communication. We are trying to provide as normal a service as possible via this medium. We would ask for your understanding if our response is delayed, as many of our colleagues are dealing with the consequences of the pandemic.
Consultation on draft Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Housing Land Audit 2020
As a result of Scotland's phased exiting of the lock down, construction sites are reopening and development industry staff are returning to work. As such, Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils will undertake the consultation period for the Draft Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Housing Land Audit 2020 from 3rd August to the 14th September 2020.

You can find a copy of the draft audit at the link below:

Consultation responses should be submitted to Tom Walsh at no later than 17:00 on 14th September 2020.

Proposed Plan - Consultation 20 May to 31 August 2020
The consultation on the Aberdeen Local Development Plan: Proposed Plan, Proposed Delivery Programme, and Environmental Report runs until 11:59 pm on 31 August 2020. There are three and a half more weeks to submit representations on these documents.  They can be viewed on our website.

The story map can also be viewed here. A story map is an information tool which allows users to interacted with and understand the Proposed Plan's map based policies. It should not be considered as a substitute for the Proposed Plan but as a complementary tool to aid understanding.

Representations should be concise, generally no more than 2,000 words, (plus limited supporting documents). They should fully explain the issues you wish to be considered as there is unlikely to be an opportunity to expand on these comments at a later stage. Representations must include a name and contact information (postal or email) to be considered valid. Anonymous comments cannot form part of the Examination.

Comments can be submitted to us online at: proposedplan2020
or by email to:

Postal submission should follow the guidance given in the 'How do I respond?' section of our Advice Note

The implications of The Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 as well the national policy of social/physical distancing means there will be no public meetings or drop-in sessions for the duration of social/physical distancing policy as they may give rise to a significant risk of the transmission of coronavirus. Where possible, correspondence, communication and publicity (including public inspection of documents) will be by electronic means.

Timetable and Next Steps

Aberdeen City Council produces a Development Plan Scheme (DPS) every year. This document sets out the programme for preparing and reviewing the Local Development Plan, and what is likely to be involved at each stage. The DPS2020 has been published. It takes account of the legislation put in place through the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020.  The DPS2020 and previous DPS can be viewed on our websitehere
