Webinar: The Link Between Health and Academic Achievement 

New research points to the strong link between health and academic achievement. Join Dairy Council of California, California School-Based Health Alliance, Association of California School Administrators, and California Action for Healthy Kids on Friday, April 15, at 11 am PDT, for a free webinar that will explore two interrelated factors – nutrition and physical activity – and provide effective actions you can take to support healthy eating and increased activity in your school. You can sign up online.

School Grants for Healthy Kids + Every Kid Healthy Week 

There is still time to apply for grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for your school and up to $50,000 for your school district. Schools may apply for School Breakfast grants to pilot or expand their School Breakfast programs or Game On Grants to fund physical activity/nutrition initiatives. Deadline to apply is Friday, April 1. Schools are also encouraged to participate in the fourth annual Every Kid Healthy Week celebration, April 25-29, 2016. Whether just starting out or celebrating all your school’s health and wellness accomplishments, join the movement by hosting and registering your Every Kid Healthy Week event today!

American Camp Association's (ACA) Virtual Health Fair Series 

Join ACA on Wednesday, April 6th for the first annual Virtual Health Fair! The theme this year is MESH-related topics (Mental, Emotional, and Social Health). Participate in one, two, or all three sessions and join for some great online discussion! Register here

Distinguished After School Health Recognition Program (DASH) 

Applications for after school programs are due April 8, 2016 for a two-year certification. Find the RFA/rubric here and here.

Project Produce Fruit and Veggie Grants

Grant applications are now being accepted for Project Produce. Launched in 2014 by the Chef Ann Foundation and superfoods company Healthy Skoop, this grant program was created to help schools increase kids' access to fresh fruits and vegetables and provide nutrition education through fun lunchroom learning activities.

Statewide Training for SNAP-Ed Local Implementing Agencies   

The Tools for Building Effective School Wellness Strategies training is designed to provide participants with practical methods for creating successful and effective school wellness programs, with particular emphasis on customizing strategies to address local needs. Register here.

Explore More Health and Equity Links  

School-based health strengthens prevention and population health by connecting clinical care to classroom education, school wide prevention programs, and the creation of healthier environments. Join California School-Based Health Alliance at Advocating for Equity in Education & Health Care in Sacramento May 5-6 to learn even more ways to build equity through improved health. 

Fuel Up to Play 60 School Nutrition Equipment Grant

Fuel Up to Play 60 is pleased to offer School Nutrition Equipment Grants of up to $5,000 in total value for the 2016-2017 School Year. The purpose of these grants is to assist School Nutrition Directors in the purchase of equipment that will enhance the long term implementation of their school breakfast and lunch programs. Deadline to apply is Thursday, June 30.
