Reception for the Artists

New Work
March 3 - 24, 2017

Charley Snow
Jack, 2017
Oil on board, 20 x 17 in

With a BFA from the University of Utah, Charley Snow is best known for his engaging depictions of cows, which he often bestows with names to honor someone he knows. In Snow's words: "When I graduated I had trouble finding models to work with so I started painting cows. They work cheap and they’re almost always available. I soon discovered that every cow had its own personality and gesture."

Ben Steele
Stay, 2017
Oil on canvas, 24 x 36 in

Ben Steele graduated from the University of Utah with a BFA in painting and drawing. Described as an art chameleon rather than fitting one specific movement, Steele creates work incorporating many different processes. With his classical training, he employs the techniques of the old masters with a contemporary sensibility. Steele’s paintings often speak to his wide range of interests including art history, pop culture, advertising, and modern life.
