Below, you'll find registration links, logistics info, and full descriptions of our free summer sessions! As long as you're a teacher or work directly with teachers, you're welcome to sign up and attend. All sessions will be hosted on Zoom. We'd love to see you there!

Note: sessions will not be recorded. There may be a second offering for sessions with particularly high demand, but none are planned at this time. Please try to make it if you can!

Teaching Modern Data Science (for AP Stats Teachers)
A panel of high school data science providers will discuss the relationship between AP Statistics and modern data science, how to teach both coding and data analysis, where to fit data science in a math student's high school trajectory, and ways to bring data science to your own school. Panel includes CourseKata (from UCLA), Introduction to Data Science (from UCLA), Bootstrap World (from Brown), Concord Consortium, and Data Science 4 Everyone (from UChicago & Steve Levitt of Freakonomics).

Tough Conversations - Class Discussion on Social Issues
It's often seen ask "risky" to discuss social issues in class. An even greater risk is graduating students who are unprepared to engage in dialogue or advocate about these issues using mathematics and statistics. Let's have these discussions in the rigorous and supportive environments of our statistics classrooms, and let's make sure they are fair, productive, and engaging. This session will share practical steps to make this happen.

Making the Flipped Classroom Actually Work
Have you tried flipping your classroom before, but it didn't really work? Or have you thought about flipping your class but didn't feel ready to commit? Dash will share his tips for making the flipped classroom work (for all students) and for making it manageable. We'll also discuss the immense benefits (increased time for activities, easier review, less teacher talk time, etc.) that come from successfully flipping a statistics classroom.
