Anybody asks Me, "Are you God?" I ask them back, "Are you not?" Because that is the truth. The more we believe in this truth, the more we become the truth. And the more we become the truth, we experience the truth inside, outside and everywhere. All actions must be undertaken to purify one's own self. It is only in this purification can we realise who we truly are.                                                                                                                                                                               - Baba

Good to Great

Swami was talking to a Australian businessman who was His host and now the driver, driving Him back home from a meeting.

Swami told him to take good people in his business and not necessarily brilliant minds, reminding him of how he has had issues with very intelligent people but not honest, which did more harm than to help to his business. The business man could not agree more.

Swami said, “Take good people as it is easier to make them great. But to make great people good is very difficult.”

While the whole world wants to be great, greater and greatest, here is Swami who asks for good, better and best!

GLOBAL AKHAND BHAJANS
SATHYA SAI GRAMA, MUDDENAHALLI
NOVEMBER 09 AND 10, 2019

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba initiated the Akhanda Bhajan weekend in the city of Bangalore when He was just 16 years old, for the welfare of humanity as a whole. He had said that when the name of the Lord is chanted incessantly, it promotes comradeship, establishes concord and grants peace. As Bhagawan had made the Akhanda Bhajan a global movement in 1980, this year marked the 40th Global Akhanda Bhajan weekend and beginning on Saturday 9th November, the proceedings commenced at 5:00 p.m at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli.

Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai glided into the Premamrutham hall amidst Vedic chants and granted Darshan to everyone before ascending the stage. He lit the Akhanda Jyothi lamp as the sacred prayer of 'Asato Maa' was sung. Thereafter, as He took His throne, a melodious rendition of the Bhajan, 'Pahi Gajanana Deenavana' marked the beginning of 24-hours of continuous Bhajan singing. The Bhajans continued as momentum and tempo increased with each passing hour, sanctifying the surroundings with sacred vibrations, resounding with the blessed name of the Lord.

Bhagawan sat listening to the Bhajans for an hour before He once again in all His compassion, granted Darshan to all the students and devotees. He then retired to the interview room and much to the delight of all present, once again granted Darshan from the balcony above the stage. Thereafter, He retired for the evening as Bhajans continued into the night.

The next morning as Bhajans were in full force, Bhagawan arrived and after granting Darshan to everyone, ascended the throne. Thereafter, He sat enjoying the Bhajans for some time and calling Brother Srinivas Viswanadha, who had been instrumental in organising the Akhanda Bhajans, showered His immense love and blessings on him. He then proceeded to the interview room before returning to His residence.

The final hours of the Akhanda Bhajan are always filled with much gusto and energy and this year was no different. As everyone sat immersed in the blissful melodies of continuous Namasmarana, Bhagawan yet again blessed everyone with His Divine Darshan. After taking a round interacting and showering His love on all who had gathered, Bhagawan ascended His throne on the stage and listened to the Bhajans. As the end of the 24 hours approached and the Bhajans increased in their vibrancy, an exuberant medley brought the wonderful weekend to a close.

This was followed by a brief presentation recapping the last 24 hours, after which Sri B N Narasimha Murthy addressed the gathering. Sri Narasimha Murthy recollected the first ever Global Akhanda Bhajan in 1980 and reminded everyone that it is only the incessant chanting of the Lord’s name that can redeem once from the cycle of birth and death.

Bhagawan then granted His Divine message and spoke about the power of the Lord’s name. He recounted a story from the life of Lord Krishna, whose wives Satyabhama and Rukmini had decided to give away Krishna’s weight in gold. As they weighed Krishna on a balance and attempted to match Him with their precious possessions, neither was able to move the weighing balance. Upon the advice of Sage Narada who remarked that the only thing equal to the Lord is the Lord’s name. Taking a cue from this, Rukmini wrote Krishna’s name on a leaf and upon placing it on the weighing scale, the balance became equal.

Bhagawan encouraged everyone to keep chanting any chosen name of the Lord as the Lord’s name has the power to purify the environment and benefit everyone around as well as purify the one who chants. He then brought the session to a close and after receiving Mangala Arati, Bhagawan showered His immense love by serving Prasadam Himself to the elders, Bhajan group and a few devotees. After spending some time distributing Prasadam, He retired to His residence for the evening, thus concluding the Global Akhanda Bhajan at Sathya Sai Grama.

DIVINE VISIT - VISHAKAPATNAM
 NOVEMBER 01 TO 03, 2019

November 01, 2019

As per the Divine promise that He would visit Visakhapatnam on the first of November every year, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai arrived by chartered flight in the port city of Visakhapatnam at 12:15 p.m on November 01, 2019. Along with a few guests, Swami was led in a convoy from the airport to Sri Sathya Sai Ananda Ashram, the residence of Sri Madhusudan Sivakoti and Smt Vijaya Lakshmi. An alumnus of Swami’s Institution, Brother Sivakoti has been spearheading several service projects in Visakhapatnam for many years. On Swami’s command, Sri Sathya Sai Ananda Ashram has also been home to about eight orphaned children who are being looked after and educated with a lot of love. Along with these children who received Swami with Vedic chanting, a large group of alumni and devotees had gathered to welcome Swami, who interacted with them briefly before partaking lunch and resting for the afternoon.

At 5 p.m, Swami proceeded to the Sujatha Nagar colony where a public Satsang was organised. He first visited the Mandir which He had inaugurated last year on the same date. All the volunteers who serve in the Annapoorna programme had gathered in the Mandir and Swami lovingly blessed, and spoke to them. He advised everyone on how Seva should be done and spoke about selfless service and the transformation of each individual. Swami then distributed clothes to all the volunteers before making His way to a nearby community hall for the public Satsang. Despite the rain, hundreds of devotees had gathered, eager for a glimpse of Bhagawan. The overflowing crowd meant that devotees were seated outside the hall in tents and moved by their devotion, He first proceeded to grant Darshan to all those who were seated outside. As Bhajans were in progress, Swami then entered the hall and ascended the dais to take His seat on the throne.

The evening’s proceedings began with a welcome address by Sri Madhusudan Sivakoti, after which there was a talk by Smt Jyothi, an ardent devotee who was instrumental in setting up the Mandir...

END MALNUTRITION CAMPAIGN
 VIDHANA SOUDHA, BANGALORE
 OCTOBER 31, 2019

It is said that children are the greatest asset of a nation, as they are the future of tomorrow. A country can prosper tomorrow only if its children are healthy today and for that, it is imperative to ensure the health of mothers, for only a healthy mother can beget a healthy child. Today, with India being home to about 50% of under-nourished children of the world and with an alarming rate of maternal and infant mortality, the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust has made significant efforts in tackling this issue of malnutrition. Since the Trust’s inception in November 2015, it has provided nutritious breakfast to nearly 250,000 children in Government and aided schools. Alongside this breakfast initiative, Sai Sure which is a malt based multi-nutrient supplement was also introduced in Government Schools, complementing the Ksheerabhagya Scheme in Karnataka. This innovative and easy to prepare nutritious drink is an answer to the issue of hidden hunger, which is the lack of essential micro-nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, iron, calcium, etc.

On the morning of 31 October, 2019, a special programme was held at Vidhana Soudha, the Karnataka State Legislative Assembly building in Bangalore. The aim and objective of the programme was to undertake collective measures to end malnutrition in the country. The programme was attended by people of all walks of life, including: volunteers, doctors and health professionals, administrators and heads of institutions, politicians including several Cabinet Ministers of the State and the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri B S Yediyurappa.

The Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka was escorted to the dais by the Sai’s Angels Brass Band from the Muddenahalli Campus and after a welcome address by Sri G B Rajashekhar, Chairman, Sri Sathya Sai Sharadaniketanam, Mandya. The programme began with an invocation prayer by children from Doddabele village who are beneficiaries of Annapoorna Programme. Thereafter Dr Satish Babu, Chairman...
