Congratulations to Chris Bentley

On Receiving FDRIO's First Award of Excellence

FDRIO is delighted to announce our 1st Award of Excellence to a most deserving recipient – Chris Bentley, the Chair of the Law Practice Program (LPP) and Legal Innovation Zone (LIZ) at Ryerson University. And of course he is Ontario’s former Attorney General.

All FDR professionals and most importantly, all separating couples over the past several years are beholden to Chris for his visionary and determined commitment to making separations more cooperative, affordable and faster. He has championed assisting families with early education and referral to Alternative Dispute Resolution processes out of court where feasible, and safe.

As AG he moved “ADR” to “PDR” – Preferred Dispute Resolution – both for those in court and in particular those who can benefit from an out of court resolution.

We look forward to an excellent turnout of FDR professionals at our FDRIO Conference to celebrate this most deserving recipient. Chris will be in a dialogue with family Justices, George Czutrin and Debra Paulseth on the topic “Public and Private FDR Processes”  moderated by Alf Mamo – all  are leaders in improving access to justice for families!

Chris will present his vision for the future of FDR as our keynote luncheon speaker. Please join us at the beautiful Aga Khan Centre on Nov. 21st to honour Chris - and then for the many wonderful events during FDR Week!!

Volunteers are needed for FDRWeek!

Our 2016 FDRWeek plans are well under way.  Volunteers are needed for FDRweek! We are planning the public and professional events for this annual week of celebration of all forms of FDR.

We need members to:

  • promote the exciting events in FDR Week to their networks
  • organize public events promoting FDR in and out of Toronto
  • organize FDRIO meet and greets in their communities
  • contribute content to our FDR Toolkit on our FDRweek.ca website
  • volunteer to help or speak at events
  • contribute to access to justice events in their communities.
  • follow us on twitter and LinkedIn and Facebook and re-post our posts
  • join FDRIO committees and sections

Please contact Michelle Walton, Laura Tarcea, or Marty Klein, if you can help. We would love to have you on board in one or more of our many volunteering areas!

There is much more to FDRIO. We hope you will get involved
in our committees, as a volunteer for FDRweek and that we
will see you at our conference and AGM November 21.
