Autumn is a season of change and new beginnings.  We have lots of exciting changes happening this month with FDRIO’s new certification offerings.  FDRIO is now proud to offer designations for Family Mediators, Family Arbitrators and Parenting Coordinators.  Check out the website for all the details.  We hope you will be among the first to seek a FDRIO professional designation.

AFCC-O ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Make sure to register for the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts annual conference.  The conference has an incredible agenda with the theme  “Navigating the Steps to Family Resolutions: New Directions  in a State of Uncertainty”  Friday, October 21st at the Toronto Reference Library. 8:30 - 4:20

FDRIO is proud to present our organization’s first-ever Award of Excellence to Chris Bentley. The Award of Excellence will be formally presented to Mr. Bentley at FDRIO’s Annual General Meeting/Conference, which is scheduled to be held at Toronto’s Ismaili Centre on November 21, 2016.

CONGRATULATIONS

OAFM president Jennifer Suzor is this years recipient of the AFCC-O President's Award.  Jennifer's incredible work bringing multi-diciplanary professionals together to aid in family dispute resolution is a true reflection of the power of the collaborative process. A special FDRIO congratulations to Jennifer!

ACCESS TO JUSTICE WEEK
TAG - The Action Group on Access to Justice is organizing Ontario's first Access to Justice Week from October 17 to 21.

Organized with a range of partners the week aims to:

  • Diversify participants in the access to justice conversation
  • Increase awareness of effective access to justice initiatives
  • Advance collaborative access to justice solutions

Check out our FDR Conference keynote speaker CEO of the New York Peace Institute, Brad Heckman, reveal how mediation works on an international level.  During his keynote address he will answer the question, ‘What could possibly go wrong?’

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Our 2016 FDRWeek plans are well underway.  Volunteers are needed for FDRweek! We are planning the public and professional events for this annual week of celebrating and learning more about all forms of FDR.

We need members to:

  • organize public events promoting FDR inside and outside of Toronto

  • organize FDRIO meet and greets in their communities

  • contribute content to our FDR Toolkit on our FDRweek.ca website

  • volunteer to help promote, sponsor, prepare or speak at events

  • contribute to access to justice events in their communities

  • follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook and re-post our posts

  • join FDRIO committees and sections
