West Palm Beach, FL — DKDC/DIY Projects will be presenting two exciting new dance works on October 15 and October 22, 2016.
Still Somehow, a new work by The Demetrius Klein Dance Company set to the music of Joni Mitchell, will premiere at The Great Big Room at Memorial Presbyterian Church in West Palm Beach on Saturday, October 15, 2016. The song list includes Mitchell’s more popular works in addition to some of her perhaps lesser-known songs. The dancers will be accompanied by live music.
Executive director and DKDC dancer Amy McCarthy Morales says, "This is such a beautiful, soft piece. It really reflects Joni's music. We literally tie ourselves in knots and then unravel into these open, gorgeous poses. Add in the warm atmosphere of Memorial Presbyterian's Great Big Room and the musicians who are really making the music their own... I'm excited to premiere it."
The following Saturday, October 22, DKDC/DIY Projects will present 7x7, also at Memorial Presbyterian. Choreographed specifically to highlight the nooks and crannies of the historic church, the piece features seven choreographers presenting seven dances that are seven minutes long in seven different spaces. The audience will move through each space while viewing the dances. Original music will be created by renowned composer David Brazzeal.
Both shows begin at 8:00pm. Admission is DIY—pay what you can. A portion of the proceeds of both shows will be donated to a charitable organization.
