Dear all,
Thanks for the turnout at the Allmøte this month! I will not compete with Trump regarding numbers, but am thankful that meetings for the whole department seem to be of interest. At the meeting, I summed up what we accomplished last year and gave my report about the economic situation. Also, I presented some thoughts about 2017.

The Faculty will evaluate its organization this spring, and we may take this opportunity to look at our own internal organization at IGS to see if it is optimal. We discussed this topic at the monthly meeting with all forsknings- and faggruppeledere last week, and the issue will be further discussed at the upcoming Instituttrådsmøte in February. I hope this process will be useful, whether we end up with smaller or bigger changes.
Then I would like to say welcome to IGS, UiB Global! This is a group of administrative employees connected to UiB’s “Global Challenges” strategy. They are organized under CIH from 2017 on, and will help setting global challenges on the research agenda.
Astrid Blystad recently became faggruppeleder in nursing science, and as a consequence wants to leave the position as study leader. On the bright side, Edvin Schei has agreed to become our new study leader when he gets back from Montreal in the fall. In the meantime, Kjell Arne Johansson will step in as temporary study leader. Thanks so much to Astrid who has done a fabulous job! And welcome to Kjell Arne and Edvin!

Head of Department
