Infrastructure Funding for Municipalities
The Province’s Infrastructure Secretariat (IS) will be holding an APPLICATION INTAKE/CALL for the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). IS will be accepting application forms from  8:00 AM on March 8 until 4:00 PM April 26, 2019 for potential projects that can begin construction prior to December 31, 2020.The following ICIP funding streams will be open for application forms:
·    Climate Change Mitigation
·    Adaptation, Resilience and Disaster Mitigation
·    Environmental Quality
·    Community, Culture and Recreation
·    Rural and Northern Communities

Toward Parity - FPEIM and FCM Hosted a Focus Group on Parity of Women in Municipal Government
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) in partnership with of the Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities (FPEIM) hosted a focus group February 8th, 2019 as part of a Canadian-wide initiative on closing the gender gap.  FCM is spearheading a Toward Parity in Municipal Politics program with these consultations as a first step in the process. Regulation Changes to Water Act - Input Sought from Municipalities
On Tuesday, March 5th, proposed changes to the Water Act were presented at the Legislative Committee Level.  They will now be open to consultations.  Regulation changes are suggested for municipalities, please review and provide feedback on items such as mandatory inspections, etc.  Submit Comments Here.

Tax Time - Filing T4s for Council Honorariums

It's time and to file T4s and HST.  There are two guides to help municipalities that are listed on FPEIM's Guides and Tool-kits page for your convenience - GST/HST Information for Municipalities and one on FCM's Change in 1/3 Exemption for Elected Officials (changes to the previous partial exemption).

Annual General Meeting - Monday, April 29th, 2019
The 2019 FPEIM annual meeting will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019, at the St. Peter’s Complex in the Rural Municipality of St. Peter’s Bay.  This is an election year for the Board members, please click call for nominations for board members, and award nominations
Please make note of the following deadlines:
  • Board nominations deadline is 4:00 pm on March 15, 2019.
  • Nominations for awards deadline is 4:00 pm on April 1, 2019.


The FPEIM Bruce H. Yeo Memorial Award and the Municipal Achievement Award will be presented at the 2019 FPEIM Annual Meeting on Monday, April 29, 2019, at the St. Peter's Bay Complex.  The deadline for award nominations is 4:00 pm on April 1, 2019.  More information on the awards and the nomination forms can be found here.  Completed nomination forms can be emailed to, mailed to FPEIM, 1 Kirkdale Road, Charlottetown PE  C1E 1R3, or faxed to 902-566-2880.
Grants for Seniors Projects
Grants available for seniors projects for municipalities through the Prince Edward Island Seniors’ Secretariat. The province offers grants up to $5,000 per project to enrich the lives of seniors. To apply visit Seniors' Secretariat Grant

The circle includes Helena Emammi, new Canadian and PEI immigration Officer; Mi’kmaq elder Alma MacDonald, Town of Cornwall Mayor Minerva McCourt, Summerside business man Alan Ramjattan, Town of Cornwall Councillor Peter Meggs and UPEI Department head Dr. Marva Sweeney Nixon.
