Today, let's focus on where we need to love Jesus.

Find a quiet space. Sit up tall, and close your eyes. Set a timer for one to two minutes per movement so that you can be fully present (or increase the time if you want a longer experience).  
 


 

First, pay attention to God. 


Take slow, deep breaths. Focus on the spot that you feel the breath in your body. Settle into the presence of Jesus. 
  • As you breathe in, think, "Love God with all my heart..." 
  • As you breathe out, think, "... mind, soul, and strength" (Matthew 22:37).
     

Second, ponder your inner world.


Process the following with Jesus:
  • What part of me struggles to love Jesus?
    • My thought life.
    • My emotions.
    • My body/obedience.
    • My motivations/ambitions.
  • Jesus, what do I need to change for this part of myself to love you wholeheartedly?
     

Third, prepare to love others.


Ask Jesus to help you answer the following:
  • What specific people need my wholehearted presence right now?
  • What parts of myself am I struggling to give away in love? 
  • How might I be fully present with them?

A closing prayer:

Father, you are love, and you don't withhold yourself from us. Jesus, you gave up everything in obedient devotion to your Father. Holy Spirit, you work tirelessly to direct our attention to Jesus.

Holy Trinity, captivate our affections. 

Set apart all of me for all of you in loving obedience. And let my wholehearted devotion bless those nearest me.

Amen.
