Today, let's focus on what we're waiting for.

Find a quiet space. Sit up tall, and close your eyes. Set a timer for one to two minutes per movement so that you can be fully present (or increase the time if you want a longer experience).

First, pay attention to God.

Take slow, deep breaths. Focus on the spot that you feel the breath in your body. Settle into the presence of Jesus.
  • As you breathe in, think, "I will see the goodness of the Lord..."
  • As you breathe out, think, "... I'll wait for you, Lord " (Psalm 27:13-14).

Second, ponder your inner world.

Process the following with Jesus:
  • What accomplishment, event, or experience am I waiting for in life?
  • How might your goodness satisfy this longing?

Third, prepare to love others.

Ask Jesus to help you answer the following:
  • Who is waiting for me to get back to them or to give them my attention?
  • What's keeping me from them?
  • How might I communicate love through my words or actions?
A closing prayer:

Lord, I'm terrible at waiting.

I want what I want now. I think I deserve my desires now. Or I believe if I don't get what I desire now that it will never come.

Jesus, you understood patience.
You waited for the Kingdom when Satan tempted you in the wilderness.
You hushed the healed because your time had not yet come.
You waited and listened for the Spirit's leading.

Teach me to wait with patience that I might love those in front of me and be content with my life.

Peace be with you until next week,
