NATURE BRINGS US CLOSER TOGETHER

HOW WILL YOU CREATE WINTER COMFORT?

November 2016 Newsletter

Greetings and autumnal salutations, EDGE3 friends!

We hope everyone has been able to get outside to enjoy the fall foliage and appreciate the true beauty of the outdoors as the seasons change. Walking with loved ones in the crisp air, noting the leaves change in colour on a weekend road trip… all the things that bring us closer together as the cooler weather sets in.

Amidst the wonders of fall, we’re so EXCITED to announce a collaborative call for photographers to help us with our 2017 EDGE3 Calendar - Nature in the City.

We’re always talking about getting out of the office, and into nature, something that has been reflected in the last 2 years of calendars that we’ve developed for our network. This year, we’re asking photographers to submit pictures that speak to the theme Nature in the City. We can’t always get out of the city to the forest/the farm/the lake/the mountains, but there are opportunities to connect with nature within the city whenever we desire. And those are the inspirational images - access to nature within urban spaces - we want to share in 2017. Check out the post on our blog to learn more about the project and how to submit your photography (and please share, Share, SHARE with your FRIENDS - we’d love them to be a part of this!).

“I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded, to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.” - John Muir

Many of us agree with the concept of going outside, and acknowledge the many benefits. But we still find ourselves spending more time inside, or merely commuting outside just to get from Point A to Point B. On the blog this month, we’ve shared a link to a great article from eecosphere, that will help get people from wondering, “How the heck am I supposed to get into nature when I’m smack in the middle of a downtown core!” We hope you’ll find No Wilderness, No Problem: Finding Nature in the City, a springboard for making a positive change in your routine (don’t worry, it’s not as hard as you’d think!).

Wishing you lots of all the good stuff for the next 30 days!

I looked for ways to get close to nature in my own city. Let me tell you, there are plenty.
