Testing for the Seal of Biliteracy? Share Your Success Story!
WAFLT Constitution and Bylaws Membership Vote

Dear members:
This is a good opportunity for promoting Seal of Biliteracy awareness, assessment awareness, and reflecting successes in promoting second language proficiency in your district/school. Please feel free to spread the word.

Here's how it works

  • Submit your Educator SOBL school success story and encourage students to share their story.

    Submit a picture or selfie* of your student with their AAPPL Score Report and we will enter the student in a drawing to win an iPad. Each SOBL Student picture qualifies for one entry. Educators who submit their story will be entered to win 5x.

  • Share a video success story and your name will be entered 5X to win!

In the video please ask the student to state school name and state, what language they are receiving the SOBL for, and what do they LOVE about languages.

The Grand Prize goes to the school with the most submissions.
Deadline for submission is May 31.

*No photo, no video, no worries - share your story and enter to win anyway!

*Language Testing International, Inc. (LTI) reserves the right to use any photograph/video submitted. LTI may use the photograph/video in publications or other media material produced, used or contracted by LTI including but not limited to email blasts, newsletters, brochures, magazine, general publications, websites and/or affiliates.

Dear WAFLT members: During our annual board retreat in April of 2019, the WAFLT board reviewed our constitution and bylaws. We propose several changes that require a 2/3 majority of the members in order to enact. Please click on the two links below to review the entire constitution and bylaws document, as well as the WAFLT officer's duties.

The items to be removed are marked with a strikethrough, and the new items are listed in italics/bold.

In short, the changes are:
-language changes from he/she to they for more inclusive language throughout;
-recording secretary term changed from 1 year to 2 years to align with other similar positions;
-clarification of the term and process for appointed positions (1 year, may be renewed);
-clarification of the terms and process for invited ex-officio members (terms generally come from the organization that sends the ex-officio member, but ultimately these members serve at the invitation of the board);
-adding reference to the WAFLT Code of Conduct and the Duties and Responsibilities for all board members;
-removing category of "lifetime member" (all current lifetime members will retain their status and be grandfathered);
-removing reference to sending notices "by mail", since notices can come by mail or electronically.

Please indicate your vote by filling out this form below by Friday, May 10, midnight PST.
