Update from Kenya

African Library Project's 5th Container made it to Kenya in September and the container was promptly received by our partner, Rongo University. They unpacked over 1,000 boxes containing 56 new libraries for schools and communities throughout the country. Rongo University conducted teacher-librarian training on October 6, and on the following day the schools picked up their libraries.

The African Library Project's festive African fundraiser, Harambee!, will be on the evening of Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the Pearl in San Francisco, CA. Learn more about what to expect by visiting the Harambee! webpage. We hope to see you there!
In addition to an in-person live and silent auction, we will also be having a hybrid silent auction. This will allow people to bid on certain items online. Participating online is free, but registration is still required. Click here to browse some of the items and learn how to participate.

Last Book Drives of the Year

Our goal for 2022 is to get back to our 2019 (pre-COVID-19) numbers by creating 300 new libraries! This goal is two more containers and countries than we've done in the last two years. But we can't do it without the help of Book Drive Organizers! Click here to our website to see the mailing dates and learn more.

We have several openings still for our last book drives of the year. If you have books, please sign-up today. Or if you know someone that has books or is looking to complete a service project before the holidays, please share with them this newsletter or our website.

Video Competition!

It's time to get creative! We're having a video competition, and anyone can compete. Whether you're a Book Drive Organizer with an active book drive, a previous Book Drive Organizer, an African partner, an ALP Library recipient, donor, volunteer, or simply a book lover. All you have to do in your video is demonstrate team work and/or why you care about literacy.
