Welcome to tandemVox's first newsletter! Since launching in mid March, we have been quite busy and wanted to share our news with clients, friends, colleagues and contacts.

Our core business is to help organisations:

  • Find their purpose;
  • Understand their key relationships;
  • Engage with like minded stakeholders and communities;
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate for shared outcomes
We want to share with you two key upcoming Geelong events:
GovHack Geelong  - Friday 3 July 6pm - Sunday 5 July 5pm
Public Sector Week: Diversity in the public sector, Tuesday 23 June, 7am

tandemVox is supporting both events and we've love to see you there!

Please visit our website if you want more information and we hope you find our update below of interest. Looking forward to hearing from you soon

Jennifer Cromarty, Director

Thanks to local entrepreneur Mayor Darryn Lyons for getting into the Upstart Challenge spirit recently and encouraging our young people!

Calling for Geelong's young 'bright sparks'

Upstart Challenge 2015 officially launches
Call for sponsors!

Jennifer Cromarty has been contracted as the program coordinator for the Upstart Challenge this year. The Upstart Challenge is a business ideas competition for high school students and staff in the Geelong region with cash prizes on offer – a bit like ‘Shark Tank’ for kids.

We call on our friends, colleagues and clients to consider supporting our young future job creators as a sponsor.

We have a tremendous opportunity to nurture and grow the existing entrepreneurial community as a means of generating new jobs in the Geelong economy. The Upstart Challenge is a program that shows young people and their families there is a valid career path in entrepreneurship and that as a community, we can transform our own economy.

Our photo shoot with Mayor Darryn Lyons supported our efforts for a story to encourage local high schools to enter the competition. Thanks to Pam Hutchinson Photography for her brilliant visual results.

We've received great support from local media with stories in the Geelong Advertiser, Surf Coast Times and Bellarine Times. Below is an opinion piece from the Committee for Geelong's CEO Rebecca Casson in support of the program.

If you have capacity to sponsor the program, here is a video to explain more about how important it is for industry to get involved. And thanks to Rebecca Casson from the Committee for Geelong for her insightful opinion piece (below).

Any questions or to receive a sponsor pack please contact  Jennifer Cromarty on

The way we work is changing dramatically and our economic futures demand more fluidity and responsiveness to change.
However, this should not impact the importance of genuine dialogue and respectful, honest relationships. Let's always have in our focus  - values driven behaviour and a sense of purpose.

Budget and policy analysis

tandemVox was pleased to represent the Committee for Geelong (CfG) at the Victorian State Budget lock up.

We developed a detailed State Budget analysis for CfG members and a media release to support CfG’s leadership on matters concerning Geelong’s future investment potential.

With the Federal Budget 15/16 handed down also in May, tandemVox had a late night developing a member update and media release outlining the opportunities for Geelong stemming from initiatives announced.

The next morning, an analysis of the key issues and outcomes from the City of Greater Geelong’s draft budget were developed into a media release.

tandemVox has also developed a submission to the Federal inquiry into Regional Capitals focusing on the need for a second city policy for Geelong.

Percy Cherry Park honours Drysdale WW1 hero

Percy Cherry Park in Curlewis was officially named on Monday 20 April to commemorate local WW1 hero Captain Percy Cherry.

tandemVox worked with Percy Cherry Park landowners, Percy Cherry’s family and local stakeholders on the event.

Percy Cherry was 19 when he was sent to Gallipoli and then serving at the Somme, before being killed in action on March 1917. He was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross, and the Military Cross in recognition of his heroic service.
Percy Cherry Park is located adjacent to Griggs Creek in Curlewis, Creekside Drive located near where he was born.
The Geelong Advertiser and Herald Sun wrote stories regarding the ceremony.

Curlewis investment opportunity

A new commercial hub is set to redefine the Curlewis Growth Area on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Bayview Central Curlewis located on Centennial Boulevard off Jetty Road, is a brand-new Neighbourhood Activity Centre that aims to provide a ‘one stop’ shopping experience for the growing local community.

tandemVox is working closely with exclusive agent Gartland Real Estate to implement a strategic communication campaign targeting investors, businesses and professionals.

If you are looking for a business, investment or small office home office opportunity with stunning bay views to the Melbourne CBD skyline and close to award winning wineries please consider Bayview Central Curlewis.

Jennifer will next be speaking at an IPAA event as part of Public Sector Week in Bendigo on Monday 22 June. Speaking alongside Mia Garlick from Facebook and Danielle Clark from Telstra, The Good. Bad and the Ugly is a forum on social media.

We would like to thank everyone for supporting tandemVox in its first months of business.

The response to our service offering has been encouraging and we look forward to supporting community and business growth in Geelong and the wider region.

If you or an organisation you know is seeking strategic communication support or advice, please let us know.
