YMCA Europe Newsletter No. 30 - December 2016

As 2016 finishes...

As we look back we realize how many changes we have had at YMCA Europe in the year that is now finishing. 2016 has been a transition year and a preparation for the next four years implementing our new Strategy.

Yes, our General Assembly in May (Madrid, Spain) agreed to start a journey that will take us to 2020. The strategic objectives and priorities were set after an effective consultation process across the European YMCA Movement. Read all

Looking at 2017...

As we continue implementing our Strategy, we look forward to several crucial steps in 2017. The Operational Plan for next year has been reviewed with good inputs from our Executive Committee, Staff Team and main stakeholders. We will initiate the Organizational Review process that is part of the adopted Strategy. This will again involve all our working platforms and members with a clear goal : to prepare YMCA Europe in order to better respond to the needs of our Member and Co-operating YMCAs through relevant initiatives, raising our internal and external profile. Join us on our way to 2019...!
On the turning point between 2016 and 2017 we are already looking forward to 2019. More precise:  to the big “Event 2019” we are planning to have in August of that year succeeding on our previous festivals in Prague. The last one was in 2013.

The year 2019 will be a remarkable year. It will be 175 years ago when George Williams started the first YMCA in London. In 2019 it will also be 30 years ago when the Berlin wall fell.
We will celebrate both historical moments by gathering thousands of young people from Europe and beyond. We will learn, enjoy and be inspired by our diversity bridging cultural gaps and promoting peace.
The firsts stages of the planning have started and the Event will be launched at our General Assembly in Edinburgh (Scotland; 27th.-30th. April 2017). We will then give details about the location, venue and main contents of this unique YMCA gathering.
We kindly ask you to join us on our way to 2019. We need your support to make the “Event 2019” happen.

Please help us fundraising. A good way is joining the “Friends of YMCA Europe” campaign which will focus on the “Event 2019”

With your support we can start our preparations and make this event a life changing experience for thousands of young people across Europe and the world.
