Free science shows for children

We've had such good reaction to the free family events we've managed to arrange this summer that we've managed to find even more, starting with a celebration of all things science! Join PopUp Science from the Cambridge Science Centre, this Wednesday, outside the shops on Wulfstan Way. It's completely free and your kids will love it.

Best wishes

Who can attend?
Any children aged 7 to 12.

When are the sessions?
  • 10am – Gums to Bum
What goes in must come out! A series of gross demonstrations shows you what happens from the moment food enters the mouth until it comes out of the other end!
  • 12pm – Stronger by Design
What dangers do firefighters face, what makes a bullet proof vest so strong, and does any of this relate to custard? Look at the amazing engineering behind some of the materials that keep us safe.
  • 2pm – Could it be Magic?
Marvel at how we can use science to explain some exciting 'magic' tricks based around fire and water! Could it be magic? No, it's science!
Do we need to book?
No, just turn up on the day. Social distancing and safety rules will apply.  Spaces will be limited due to this. We ask that a responsible adult stays with all children attending.

And don't forget our fitness sessions!

Our free fun fitness and sport sessions for children continue at Nightingale Park for the rest of the summer holidays. Numbers are building each week, and it's never too late to come along for the first time. The kids are having great fun.

Who can take part?
Any children aged 5 to 16.

When are the sessions?
  • 5 to 11 years: 10am to 11am, Mondays and Fridays
  • 11 to 16 years: 11am to 12pm, Mondays and Fridays
Where do they take place?
Meet by the Nightingale Park 'pavilion'.

Do we need to book?
No, just turn up on the day. We have a limit on places, so it's first-come first-served. We ask that a responsible adult stays with children attending the 5 to 11 class. All activities will be organised with COVID-19 safety in mind.
