Its been an exciting week here at NHEMA: Signs have gone up in the plaza, the epoxy is applied and chairs, tables and umbrellas will be delievered next week in time for our first event there:

Wednesday, July 29th, 3-8pm and feature Zumba at 4:30pm, Music and cooking demonstrations! There will also be a lot of information about the planned programming in the Plaza in the coming weeks. Please

If you somehow missed it, the 125th Plaza is a newly revitalized public space that NHEMA has been working with DOT to establish for the past several months under the Metronorth Viaduct at 125th and Park. Long a poorly lit, dirty, smelly and unsafe area, the revitalization promises to transform this space into one that can truly be enjoyed by the entire community. With regular innovative program, we hope that this space will become a cornerstone of East 125th Street, just like La Placita (located 9 blocks south under the viaduct) is for 116th Street.
One of the features of the plaza we are very excited about is "Lunch @ Uptown Grand Central" which will be every weekday from 11am-2pm. If you bring and eat your lunch at the plaza 5 times during this time period, getting your card stamped by the attendant each time, you will win a prize from a local merchant!
Together, we hope to transform this plaza and turn it into a new and vibrant space for the public in the Heart of East 125th Street.
