Dear friends and supporters,
Many times we act as if surely we must be indispensable to God's work. We left Chile almost four months ago. Many thoughts weighed heavy on our hearts and minds. We crossed our "t"s and dotted our "i"s making sure the ministries we were responsible for would continue during our time away. Now, as we receive news of happenings and follow on facebook the lives of those we left behind, it is glaringly obvious that we are dispensable. He, and He alone, builds His church. We would readily concede that fact intellectually, but many times we carry the worries and weight of ministry as if all depended on us. This truth must also be acted out in our daily lives. God does not need us, yet He chose to use us. He is at work and we have the privilege to be part of it!
Ministry takes place when divine resources meet human needs
through loving channels to the glory of God.
– Warren Wiersbe, On Being a Servant of God
Our goal then is to be that loving channel through which God has decided to work to bring glory to His name.
We have seen God work in Ruben:
While on furlough, we have received exciting news…Ruben, a young man who has worked with us for a few years, was struggling with the Lord's call on his life to study full-time at the Bible Institute, yet faced opposition from outside sources. During our absence, the Lord has worked and Ruben will be studying full-time at the B.I. next semester.
We have seen God work in our camp team:
Many of our part-time camp team members have come alongside Angelo to help in different aspects of camp ministry. They are, as we write this, preparing for the September young people's retreat and the summer camps.
We have seen God at work in our children's lives:
Matthias and Morgan took a step of obedience when they were baptized a few weeks ago in our home church. We rest in the fact that He is perfecting His work in their lives.
We have seen God at work in His church:
People are responding to the gospel and to the preaching of His Word. It's been a privilege to witness His working in and through His church in the U.S. and also in Chile.
Rejoice with us as we keep up the good work God has entrusted to us during these months of furlough. We would love to hear how God is working in and through you too!
