Register for real-time smoothness showcase in Utah

On August 9, 2016, the Utah DOT is hosting a free, all-day “showcase” in Salt Lake City, Utah, to introduce agency and contractor personnel to real-time smoothness (RTS) technologies for concrete pavement construction. Attendees will hear presentations and then observe RTS technologies in action at a site visit. The CP Tech Center is organizing this event as part of an FHWA/SHRP2-funded project on RTS.

Although there is no registration fee for the showcase, participants must register in advance. (Travel assistance for state DOT reps is available on a limited basis.) To register or learn more, see the event webpage.

Highlights from April 2016 NC2 meeting

In April the National Concrete Consortium met for 2½ days in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to presentations on projects across the country, state DOT attendees discussed priorities for future products plus plans for the national CP Road Map. A highlight was a site visit to the under-construction Jeremiah Morrow Bridge, the tallest bridge in Ohio, the design of which allows for future expansion with an additional lane in each direction. Read other highlights online and see all presentations online, including topics of a panel discussion on implementation issues related to HPC.
