Carefree Adopts a “Code of Conduct” for all Elected and Appointed Officials
People who are elected or appointed to a position of responsibility serving the residents of Carefree are expected and required to handle all of their actions involving Carefree with the highest level of integrity. On March 1st, 2016, the Carefree Town Council adopted a written “Code of Conduct” for all of its elected and appointed officials so there could be no ambiguity in the definition of the “highest level of integrity”.
This Code of Conduct was developed by a team involving the Town Council and staff, past members of the Carefree Town Council, the Town Attorney and other knowledgeable individuals. Developing the Code was a result of the team’s review of a broad cross-section of Codes of Conduct in place in over 80% of the cities and towns in Arizona, and a legal review of recent changes to Arizona statutes. Using these sources, they drafted a Code of Conduct to meet the unique needs of Carefree. MORE...

CAREFREE TOWN CENTER GATEWAY UPDATE
Members of the Gateway Project Team are excited that after months of careful planning this milestone project is about to begin!  The Town’s major arterial streets are under major construction efforts by Nesbitt Contracting Company who is working with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to construct bike lanes throughout Carefree. ADOT is in charge of the planning schedule and federal dollars; and after a few more weeks, the streets will be safer for automobiles, bikers and pedestrians alike.  As the bike lanes progress, proper right-turn lanes are being incorporated at Carefree Drive and Ho Road off Tom Darlington Drive; along with a curbing change at Carefree Drive off Cave Creek Road as part of the gateway project.  Asphalt has been removed at Carefree Drive in preparation for the gateway columns and construction is estimated to be complete in June.   Update provided by Councilwoman Melissa Price

In an effort to be a transparent government, Mayor Les Peterson and  Vice Mayor John Crane are meeting face-to-face with HOA, residents and non-profits in Carefree. Their objective is to explain the progress of the Town and to dialogue with residents who want to have healthy discussions and get their questions answered about anything on their minds. They look forward to working together to make Carefree the place where we all are proud to call home. Schedule a meeting today! Contact Carefree Town Hall at 480-488-3686. Mayor@Carefree.org

Kiwanis Splash Park OPEN in April!

The Town of Carefree will officially open the Kiwanis Splash Park, located in the Carefree Desert Gardens, April 1, 2016 and it will remain open through October from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. everyday. Last fall, the local Carefree Club of Kiwanis generously donated the funds so that local families and their children could have a place to escape the heat while enjoying the surrounding views in Carefree.
In keeping with the Carefree Desert Garden theme, there is a Scorpion centered within the splash pad named "KIWANI" who is an exciting one-of-a-kind addition. SplashZone worked in concert with the Town to design the unique Scorpion feature that comes to life when guests least expect it, creating an all new level of interactivity and team play experience.  It is an exciting focal point for Carefree’s New Kiwanis Splash Park, and combined with the other ground spray jets, create a magical, nature-inspired play environment.
