Making Christ's love known

Meet Cyrus Kung and Tansy Chen: two young UCA leaders finding new ways to do mission and church in the heart of Adelaide.

They share some of their hopes and reflect on the gifts of their cultural heritage.

"Sometimes it can be hard, knowing that everyone in the tribe knows your issues, but it can also be the greatest treasure.

"Like when your aunty asks you why you’re still single yet will cook you a delicious meal when you’re sick. Or that grandpa that tells you you’ve gained weight but will drop everything he’s doing when you ask him for help."

Life post-NYALC: An email from Emily

Six months on from the National Young Adult Leaders Conference (NYALC), QLD delegate Emily Mills shares how taking part in NYALC began a whole new journey of growth in her faith and leadership, which included being baptised!

"Life post NYALC has been a whirl-wind experience, sending me to so many events and bringing me so much growth.

"When we returned to our Synods we were invited to a dinner with all the QLD delegates and our Moderator. Rev. David Baker urged all seven of us Queensland delegates to attend the 34th Synod.

"For me there was a slight hiccup in the plan – I was not baptised. "

TNC 2nd Gen lead Youth Rally

Virginia Lavaki reports back from the Youth Rally led by Second and Third Generation leaders of the Tongan National Conference (TNC) in Brisbane.

"This Youth Rally was a big step not only for the TNC Community but for the whole Church itself.

"To be able to come together and worship as God’s people regardless of where we come from and what denomination we belong to is an amazing achievement."

SOD Unmasks Revelation

Rev. Adrian Sukumar-White reports back from the School of Discipleship (SOD) 2019.

"More than 135 students, ministers, academics, young professionals and a handful of children from across NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria attended School of Discipleship (SOD) 2019 held in Sydney on 28-30 June.

"The theme this year was: Seeing Differently: Unveiling Evil, Unveiling God in the Book of Revelation. In her keynote sessions, Rev. Dr. Robyn Whitaker invited participants to delve deeply into the Book of Revelation... and how Revelation invites us to consider how we name, expose and witness to evil in today’s world."

Assembly National Consultants Rev. Dr Apwee Ting and Rev. Charissa Suli are leading a workshop in the VIC/TAS Synod on what it means to be an intercultural and intergenerational Church. It will be held from 27-28 August at the Centre for Theology and Ministry (CTM) in Melbourne. One day workshops will be held in Echuca and Ararat.

The faith-based Urban Thinkers Campus (UBC) initiative is an opportunity to come together with people from different faith perspectives who share a heart for the creation of cities where all can flourish. The gathering on 23-24 September in Melbourne seeks the often under-represented input of people of faith into urban development. Other UBC events are taking place all over the world.

God of the everything
In your time help us to see your plans for us
In your wisdom help us to know we are valued and important
In your love surround and envelop us

Where the pressures of life, relationship, career, study, future, budget, and more constrict us
In your divine grace help us to lean into you
For it is only in you that we will find rest

In your time
In your wisdom
In your love
