CHEERS

TOP SHELF

A special few days in Memphis as the country music community came together for the 31st Annual St. Jude Country Cares Seminar! Amazing moments that make you grateful for the gift of life - none more so than when St. Jude's very own Addie Pratt joined Brad Paisley on stage to perform "Alive Right Now." If there's one song I hope country radio programmers take to heart and give a chance - it's this one - what a gift it would be if this song could become a #1 hit! The Songwriter's Dinner event featured Randy Owen & Brett Young along with Brad putting on a terrific show that served to highlight their commitment to St. Jude. The night before, Lady Antebellum was presented with the Randy Owen Angels Among Us award for their decade-long devotion to St. Jude. Highlights of all the performances from this weekend are on our InstaStory's featured stories tab on Instagram! As we were reminded by ALSAC CEO Rick Shadyac, we still have more work to be done as more than 400,000 kids a year will lose their fight with cancer. To date, the country music community's partnership with St. Jude has resulted in more than $850 million raised to support this world-class care and research facility. As Brad said on Saturday night, this place symbolizes the very best of what we can achieve by working together. St. Jude founder Danny Thomas believed that every child's life matters. That beating cancer was beyond the meaningless divisions of race, creed, color, income or geography. On a day where we remember the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it's also worth remembering that Dr. King breathed his last breath on the grounds where St. Jude is housed and that St. Jude was the very first integrated hospital in the South.

SHOT

Sony Music Nashville has announced the new signing of Ross Ellis to its roster. Born and raised in the small town of Monterey, Louisiana, Ellis began playing at fifteen in a band he formed with his cousin and some high school friends called “Wayside.” The band gained a strong following throughout Ellis’ high school and college years, playing venues across Louisiana and Mississippi. After graduating from University of Louisiana at Monroe, Ellis turned down multiple job offers to instead move to Nashville. After a month of living out of hotels, Ellis met a couple singer/songwriters who were looking for a third roommate. He worked various part-time jobs during the day while songwriting in the evenings and weekends as well as playing writer’s rounds every chance he could. Ellis has released a number of powerful tracks independently since moving to Nashville & co-wrote Tim McGraw's 2018 hit "Neon Church."
