Cornerstone's Annual Food Drive – February 3-March 3, 2019
Please consider bringing non-perishable food items for our annual food drive supporting Circle Urban Ministries, one of our global outreach agencies.  There will be a drop-off box at the east entrance during the entire month of February. The Global Outreach team will deliver the items directly to the center following the drive. We are confident of your generous offering and thank you in advance for your support.
For over 20 years, Circle Urban Ministries’ Our Daily Bread Food Pantry has served the residents in Austin and the surrounding areas by distributing an average of 100,000 pounds of food annually to help end the fight of food insecurity in underserved communities. What started as a small operation housed in the basement of Rock of Our Salvation Church has grown into approximately 140 families visiting our pantry monthly serving an average of 425 individuals and 200 children.
Circle’s Outreach Department offers referrals for Family & Life Counseling, Housing, Employment, Homeless Prevention, and Addiction Treatment in addition to other services.

Elder's Corner
Global Outreach is leading the canned food drive at Cornerstone to benefit Circle Urban Ministries.  My wife Jenny, who heads Outreach, had the idea to create a contest for our respective Children's Sunday school classes to see who could bring in the most food before March 5.  The winning class would get a free breakfast.  We announced the contest and the energy in each classroom was infectious. We quickly heard back from parents about how excited their children were in bringing canned food and non-perishables for the Urban ministry. You don’t have to be a kid to get involved in the food drive.  I’m also encouraged by those at our church who share the same excitement for Exploring God.

As we discuss the seven important questions of Exploring God, it presents opportunities for us to dialogue with friends, relatives and co-workers on these engaging topics. There is more at stake than a free breakfast. The Holy Spirit can use us to help lead souls to Christ. While personal evangelism does not always come naturally, we can have the confidence that God will give us the right words to say when we share our faith.  Christ is the answer and we just need to be willing to start conversations.

My prayer is that you are inspired, as part of the Cornerstone faith community, to share the good news of Jesus with those in your life.  May we all have the energy and enthusiasm of our first through fifth graders.

Question #24 - Does Christ’s death mean all our sins can be forgiven?
Answer
 -  Yes, because Christ’s death on the cross fully paid the penalty for our sin, God will remember our sins no more.

Ministry Enhancement Plan
Ministry Enhancement Plan

How Does The Ministry Enhancement Fit Into Our 3-Year Vision?
Cornerstone, in the next three years, will create a culture that inspires Christ-like believers whose lives reveal God’s goodness and equips mature leaders who multiply to impact our community and beyond. We will strive to develop strong leadership while further equipping our saints for the works of service. Our ministry enhancements are tools that will assist us in our journey to disciple our own and reach the lost. We want to utilize our facility in the most efficient manner. Repurposing rooms helps people make better connections. Additionally, an expanded foyer encourages people to make personal connections within the congregation. First-time visitors and newcomers will have a welcoming atmosphere to meet others.
For complete information and to participate in the Ministry Enhancement Plan with your much-appreciated donation, please visit the Cornerstone Website and click on Give/Building Fund. Please note that giving envelopes labeled "Ministry Enhancement - Building Fund" are available and may be found inside the friendship folder in the Worship Center pews or at the Welcome Center.
