Coastal Anxiety #25

Greetings  <<First Name>>,

Hope you're enjoying summer wherever you are. Here in The Valley of the Sun it's quite hot and there have been several days of 110 in the last couple weeks. Yesterday was 115. The real kicker is my air conditioner was out last week and I endured the inferno for a week with a little (very little) help from a portable evap. However, there is some very cool news. The painting above was recently accepted into the National Watercolor Society 98th Annual International Exhibition. I'm honored and very grateful to the NWS International 2018 Jury committee.

Colored Drawings

I'm selling these small unframed paintings/drawings for $50 each which includes shipping anywhere in the continental United States. They're roughly 8 X 8 inches square on a 12 X 9 inch sheet out of a Canson Mixed Media Sketchbook, signed and dated right below the square. You can find more here and here on my website. You can contact me by replying to this email or through my website. As you browse the paintings if the large image title has a red dot to the left of the title/date then that painting has been sold or is not for sale. As of publication date for this news blast all of the small paintings shown here are still available.

Freedom in Watermedia Workshops

My workshops are designed to help students paint intuitively, starting with no preconceived notion or outcome. There will be no preliminary planning or drawing. The process will dictate direction as students use a variety of techniques to implement color, texture, line, shape and value. Instruction will start with arbitrary mark making and color application, working transparent to opaque building layers using a variety of mark making tools, watercolor, gesso and acrylic. There will be regular comments and evaluation of work in progress concerning relationships between shape, texture, line, color and value. It is entirely possible finished work may be representational, but the goal is a painting which is visually pleasing and aligned with the artist's personal aesthetic.

Upcoming Workshops:

Fanciscan Life Process Center - Sep 6-8, 2018
11650 Downes Street, Lowell, MI 49331

Alabama Art Colony - October 5-10, 2018

Terravita Art League (2 days) - January 23rd & 30th, 2019
Mixed Media on Canvas Wokshop

San Diego Watercolor Society  -  February 11-14, 2019

Oregon Society of Artists  -  August 12-15, 2019

If you or your group are interested in sponsoring a workshop in your area and would like more information about my workshops please reply to this email or inquire through my website.
